So I'm in the middle of this fucking big 4 upgrade and need some help. Where the fuck can I ground the alternator from? Specifically where can I bolt onto to get ground on the body of the alternator? Can I use eather of these points? 20170201_202337.jpg 20170201_202346.jpg
My understanding was that the rear of the alternator body gave ground. But in this article
    http://www.bodenzord.com/archives/477
This guy references to alternator ground at mounting bolt.
Anyone care to shed some light? I gotta get this shit done tonight.... Gotta work tomorrow.

Installation instructions for Stage 1/2 Kit

    1. Disconnect negative cable from battery

    2. Disconnect positive cable from battery. Disconnect wire from positive cable-to-under fuse box and carefully place aside for later.

    3. Remove battery hold down, and remove battery (while the battery may not be getting replaced, it makes it easier to route the cables if the battery is removed)

    4. Disconnect ground cable from existing negative cable from fender using 10mm wrench or socket

    5. Remove fuse box cover

    6. Disconnect alternator output cable from fuse box using 10mm socket

    7. Remove this cable from fuse box by sliding out the bottom of the access hole. It may be necessary to remove the small cover plate on the side of the fuse box.

    8. Unbolt negative cable from engine block under driver’s side of the engine, above the oil pan.

    9. Unbolt alternator output cable from terminal of alternator. (If replacing alternator, also disconnect Engine harness connector from back of alternator)

    10. Disconnect battery positive cable from starter.

    11. If replacing alternator, please use factory service procedures to remove original alternator, and install new alternator.

    12. In order to return the vehicle to factory conditions in the future, you can take all exposed cable ends and tape them up so that they can be reconnected to factory later.

    13. At this time take the wire that was removed from positive cable in step 2 and route it to top of fuse box where original alternator cable was removed. (Do not bolt in yet)

    14. Take new Stage 1 Wiring Kit and route cables as follows:

    a. 2 gauge long red cable to starter

    b. 2 gauge 45” long black cable to engine block ground

    c. 2 gauge 30” long red cable to alternator charging post on alternator

    d. 8 gauge 24” red or transparent cable to top of fuse box with other cable from Step 2 (Bolt in now)

    e. 2 gauge 12” black cable to fender ground location at step 4

    15. Next reinstall battery, and battery hold-down

    16. Connect positive terminal to battery. Of the 2 small wires, only the black one needs to be connected for digital meter to work.

    17. Connect negative terminal to battery.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You don't need to ground the alternator, as the ground goes to the bolt above the oil pan.

I realized this from the original post. I have everything o this list already down and bolted. My issue is I want to ground the alternator directly to frame. There's alot of well informed electrical engineers that will speak on the benefits of directly grounding your alternator.

    OK, then.

I don't know many engineers, but I do know that the alternator is grounded directly to the block since it is bolted to it; so why bother with an extra superfluous wire?

The larger second bolt you pictured, make sure it's got continuity with the ground, make sure to clean contact points before hooking up, then run it straight to the battery ground. This is a general guess but I think 4 guage wire would be enough.

That was my guess as well. Thank you. I just didn't want any fuck ups in the electrical system. Don't need any fires in this fucker

No.... You posted before I answered. Now that I have, I'll look into jumping a short black wire from the alternator casing to the block ground bolt.

    I have a 130 amp alternator.

You have a 8 gauge running from alternator positive to inside fuse box top bolt correct? 20170201_211510.jpg
