I'm putting together a back up plan if the Bilstein 5100 2" lift kit is still unavailable after another month.
I was looking at the Eibach stage 1 kit, coils and shocks for a 2" lift for the front but nothing comes in the kit to lift the back so do I need to buy AAL's or a block? Its says rear shocks 0-1" but I read in another thread that the rears are not lift shocks.
I called Eibach twice and nobody home.

The rears are capable of handling an excess of a 1” lift in the rear (though they are advertised as 1”) but the shocks themselves do not lift the rear. Only the fronts do. I used the top shock setting on the front of mine along with OEM SR5 springs and a 1.5” Toytec block in the rear.

Thanks for the pics. So with the 1.5" block you have about a 1.5" rake? How do you like the lift?

I love the look - here’s a level street view. The front lifted about 1.8” and the rear lifted about 1.6”

Bottom line is I knew the kit was engineered properly so I wasnt hesitatant to choose these over the Billies. I’ve used Eibach on 3 of my past vehicles (for spirited driving) and I’ve always had great experience with the quality and customer service.

Stiffened up on all four corners, comfortable for the street and they travel decent off pavement (I only take it off-road to get to job sites). Braking is significantly better up front.

If I could redo I would have used their front springs instead of reusing my own just for curiosity sake.

From the suspension setup? Not at all.

From the 17x9 (-12) wheels and 285/70r17 wheels? Yes - only had to remove front mudguards and trim front inner bumper plastic. No CMC.

I have the stage 1 myself. You would need either a block in the rear or do an add a leaf. I chose the icon add a leaf personally.

I just installed the 2.0 kit last week. In the rear I used Eibach's own 1" lift block with the shocks. The front is coilover that I left a set up. So not quite the same as the 1.0 kit. I am very happy with the ride. No more Sport shock harshness. No more rear end jitters over potholes or bumps. All 4 corners feel more planted now.

Yeah, I was looking at those.

Nice! Are those the 1.5" blocks or 1"?

I used the wheelers 3 leaf aal and kept the overload leaf in.

If the bilstein 5100 kit you're looking at has the OME springs, keep in kind that alot of folks see sag after a year or two. That's part of the reason I went with the eibach.

The Bilstein kit comes with Eibach coils but upon further searching I might go with this kit instead since it comes with everything and is equivalent to the Bilstein kit but uses Eibach shocks instead of the 5100's

From my short experience with the 2.0 kit I don't think you can go wrong. The parts are very well made and a great upgrade over the factory offering. For entry level kits, I think Bilstein and Eibach both excel with quality and performance offerings.

I have the stage 1 kit and I have nothing but great things to say about it. For a starter lift kit it’s great quality. I have the front set to the second notch and I did the icon aal in the rear. I’m going to be upgrading to the coilovers soon

The Bilstein kit is back in stock so I decided to go that route. I was seriously considering the Eibach kit but now its out of stock lol. My next question....is it worth 149.00 to have the coil overs assembled? I've never worked on a Tacoma so I'm not sure what is involved

    Yeah.
You'll likely get a lot of answers, but I would say pay the $149. I've done fronts a couple of times on Tacomas and once on a 4Runner and it is a bit scary with those screw-style compressors. I had no luck finding local shops that would do it for me unless I bought the shocks from them and had them do the work, but YMMV. If I was doing it again, I think I'd get a hydraulic wall mount spring compressor. Having them pre-assembled should make the work go quickly.

so I’ve heard many nightmare stories of guys ordering pre assembled kits and something is missing or it wasnt assembled properly and the shop having to redo it.
