Edge Insight digital gauge monitor

Any one with a 2008 v6 have one of these ? I am looking to monitor auto transmission temps .
I did call then and was told it SHOULD work

Get a ultra gauge , they monitor both trans pan temp AND converter temp ! Plus look a ton better than scan gauge

The MX 1.3or the EM plus ?

 

Mx1.3

 

Mx1.3 is the one most have (as do I) it does trans temps (torque converter temp and trans pan temp) , engine temps, intake temps , MPG , MPH (if you have over sized tires , it can be calibrated to your tires so) . I think for a Tacoma it will read 40 (maybe more) different Sensors on the truck , I forget the exact amount for a Tacoma . I will take some pics of mine of what I am monitoring . It's fully customizable with what you want to monitor

The em plus doesn't do trans temps but it does do 0-60 times , breaking 60-0 , and performance related stuff . I think it also does like lap times (not positive on that thou)

The scan gauge does the same I believe but it's harder to "program" from what hear . And it's more expensive too than a ultra gauge

Yea I had to wait too when I got mine , they are on back order a lot !! .... I've had mine for about 2 months I think

It does ALOT , more than I'll ever need . It will give you good data if your into that kinda stuff . It also does DTE AND TTE (Distance To Empty and Time to empty) and a ton more , but you can set it up to be as simple as you want it also . Basically you have to select which gauges to display so you can literally show 2 trans temps and that's it OR you could have 6 pages of all the gauges on the truck if you wanted

 

When I bought mine I emailed ultra gauge and they gave me a estimated time that they would be back in stock

 

My mechanic recomended the Edge products over Scan gauge .He said Scangauge was kind of a real plasticy and cheap . Edge displays up to 6 gauges at once .The one he told me about was over $400 of course . Sounds like the Ultra is the way to go.

Instant MPG
Avg MPG
TTE (time to empty)
DTE (distance to empty)
(these gauge resets every time you turn the truck on)
Mph start (avg mph for the current trip)
MPG start (avg mpg for the current trip)
Miles start (miles this trip)
Run start ( how long the trucks been running this trip)

My second page of gauges I have set up from top left to right
Torque converter temp of trans
Pan temp of trans
Engine temp
Intake temp of air coming in
ECM voltage (voltage of alternator)
Blank ( for now)
UG temp (the temp of the ultra gauge)
% Engine load

These all reset when the truck turns on and a per trip basis

These you have to manually reset in the device . I usually reset the trip each tank but I'm calibrating the unit over 1116 Miles for Accurate calibration of the mpg later I will reset these

And you can set yours up anyway you like with any gauges anywhere , this is just how I have mine for now , I may change the layout later

Finally ordered the Ultra Gauge mx last night !

 

Good luck with it , you’ll like it ! It will take a little time to set up the way you want it but it works good once your gauge layout is done

This.... id suggest

Download the manual and printout the diagram and pencil in what gauges u think u want where.
Check them off as u add them to the actual gauge.

I threw out my final hand written pages, but its something like this...


Before i had the mx1.3 i wrote things out like this with pages defined


Then i got the beta mx1.2and it was more fun trying codes


Then the beta mx1.3




Just print out page 17 of the reg ultragauge manual for the templates if the company doesnt have a in depth mx manual yet... its been a few yrs as u can see the date on the mx instructions was 2013 and 1.3 was 2014 instructions

 

Actually in that binder i have the scangauge2 manual printout, ultragauge, and the mx1.2 and 1.3

Came in handy as we used cross referenced codes from 1 gauge and alot of trial and error to get the trans temps working on the mx1.3

 

I would hope it comes with a manual !

 

So when you get the mx1.3 you then need to enter a code in order to get auto trans temp ? And where do you get the code from.
