No. It won't brick the ECU because AT and MT ECUs are different parts with different calibration IDs. Referencing the table on Page 3:

    upload_2018-11-21_14-31-27.jpg

Even though it is not shown, TSB-0058-18 has software for 2016 MTs also (04B10 and 04B11).

Edit: The latest known versions of the TSBs are attached this thread. TSB-0058-18 Rev 1 in the OP and TSB-0125-18 in the thread somewhere, just search for "pdf."

Went to Toyota of Kirkland in Kirkland, WA. I told them about TSB125 and complained of rev hang from 1st to 2nd and they did the update for me. Truck drives much better now, smoother throttle response and better power in low end, still haven't taken the truck for a long drive to fully test it out.

I am pointing out the pre-TSB AT ECUs versus the pre-TSB MT ECUs.

    Awesomeness! A local winner.

You should be 04A70. The dealer map?

    04B13 would be a dealer that updated a 2016 or 2017?

I'm in the same boat as you. Can't get my 18 updated. Tried 3 different dealerships.

No, all unmapped. I guarantee if I had a 17 they would update it, since its listed on the TSB. Didn't want to have them red flagged incase a guy with a 16/17 wanted to try these dealers.

Read a few pages back the map is not year specific. So its more than likely a lot of 16/17 guys getting their trucks updated.

Update from me as well. Like others, my truck seems to have gone back to it's old ways. It has a bad random stumble/miss around 2000 rpm when cold usually in 2nd gear. Also the 3000 rpm power surge seems to be back intermittently. It was great for about 2000kms. It's still better than it at first, but these other issues are annoying.

Ok, first off... thanks OP for starting this thread! I went to Larry Miller Boulder Toyota (also simply known as Boulder Toyota). I'm still under warranty/Toyota Care so no charges here. The service team at Boulder Toyota are top notch and have always treated me great. The service manager there, Andre, is one of the coolest people you'll meet. He actually cares about making the customer happy and expects that from his team. With that said, there was a little back-and-forth for me to get the calibration updated however it was only about a 5-min conversation over the phone going over the TSB's together. The TSB that appeared to hold the most weight was the T-SB-0125-18 which has been mentioned in this thread. This one specifically calls out the 2016 and 2017 MT's. After pointing my service person to this TSB, things started to move along. I can also confirm via and ODB reader that the calibration went through (see attached photos).

As for the results, I feel that the original stutter at idle to about 2000 rpm is now mostly gone. The entire throttle response from idle to the upper RPM's is much smoother now. I don't feel like I have to "pre-load" the gas pedal to get the truck going. This is very much welcomed. I've only been driving it for an hour or so but there's definitely a change in the way it drives. I don't feel like I have to fight the throttle/clutch as much now and that's great! Overall the throttle and acceleration is smoother. I would recommend this update for those on the fence. I'll report back if the old behavior comes back.

Please add Larry Miller Boulder Toyota to the map of dealerships willing to do the update. Great service team out there!

Won't temporarily removing the ECU fuse or unplugging your battery for a few minutes then plugging the fuse/battery back in reset the ECU and have it behave like it did after the re-flash again? I would assume the ECU would go back to default mode and give you the same feeling after you got the software update. Right?

I could try that or I can also go in with the scan tool and clear out all of the learned fuel trim data which basically does the same thing. Chances are it will jusy go back to the same thing again though. There must still be an issue with the learned strategy in the ecu that it tunes itself back into those problems.

    04A70 and 04A7100 are 2018 calibrations. 04B12 and 04B13 are for 2016 and 2017 model years.

Since TSB 0125-18 doesn't apply (currently) to 2018 models, it makes sense that 2018 calibrations are not listed.

So went to Downeast Toyota here in Brewer Maine asking for the tsb. They said health check showed an update, but nothing lined up for the manual. I even compared it to the paperwork I printed out from there forums and they were correct. They said if I can find a way at all to connect the dots, they would do it, as they've had a bunch of people ask for the update but they have no way of connecting the update to the manuals, and none of the customers have put in the effort to find out how.

So, with this paperwork that they gave me, anyone see how I can connect my truck with the update? Healthcare says I have one, but it's not actually listed.

Well that was the wrong way to update the TSB. Where the fuck did Rev 2 come from? This is from Rev 1 showing the SAME DATE! The underlines in the table at the bottom connect the TSB to your first pic, just like in the OP:

The Tech said he just clicks on the "Yes" link in the 1st image I posted, and it brings him to the Rev. 2. Now I've gotta figure out where he gets Rev. 1 w/o him needing to backdoor it somehow so that he feels as though he's doing something correctly. Ugh.

I would highly recommend using the other TSB mentioned in this thread. The one referring to the steering wheel turned and the surge from idle. That one specifically calls out the M/T and upgrades the ECU to the same calibration as the one mentioned above. My dealership had a hard time with the 40 and 50 mph surge tsb shown above. I can't recall the other TSB but it's in this thread and is what helped me figure it out with my dealership. I also specifically showed them the new calibration number compared to the old one. That also helped. Basically told them that my truck has the older version and there's a new one available that should be updated (being super respectful, polite, and professional about it).

The full version of Rev 1 in attached to the OP.

TSB-0125-18 does not list the 2018s yet.

Yea, I saw the links in the OP. I'm not ready to do that stuff on my own at the moment. With suspension, wheels, tires, tint, exhaust, and saving for the Turbos, I'm trying to spend as least amount as possible currently. The ones I linked are 58-18. Shows '18, but not Manuals anywhere. I'll have to try the steering wheel surge one, and see. I've never actually turned my steering wheels when sitting still. My driver instructor back in High School in 1998 would smack us with a clipboard if we ever did it, as he claimed it put unnecessary stress on the tires and front end, so it kind of ground it into my mind never to do it.

I'm not talking about the software, just that the full version of TSB-0058-18 Rev 1 is attached to the OP!

Rev 1 is still applicable to your 2018 because the information in Rev 1 is accurate for your truck and the software that comes with it loads.

If you're going to use that avatar pic, do it some justice. Hahaha!
