The other day I was having some problems with my shifter being stuck in park. The only way to release it was to use the manual release tab next to the auto shifter. I did some searching and it was mention that one of my fuse might be blown. Sure enough when I went to check the fuse compartment on the driver side, one of my fuse was blown, ECU-IG 15A blue fuse. I had a spare fuse so I replaced it and my shifter worked normally again. Did some errands around town today and it blew the fuse again. I also noticed when the fuse is blown my window switches on the driver side don't work either, not sure about the other switches. I am able to drive the truck fine and use the manual release tab to release my auto shifter, no dash lights or CEL on. Before I start to diagnose the issue can someone give me an idea of what is blowing my ECU-IG 15A fuse. The last thing done to my truck was getting new wheels and having my alignment check.

    Thanks for your time.

you have a short someplace or added more of a load to that circuit causing the fuse to open.

look at the wires from the rear O2 sensor rubbed or melted causing the problem that is common

Thanks I’ll look into those area. Electrical problems are almost like computer problems, it can be something real simple but finding it can take minutes to hours.

Thanks for the diagram. Quick glance on my phone. I’m no electrician but would that mean my shift lock control relay, one of my brake lights, key lock solenoid might be the problem or a wire connected to it?

the last page explains how the system operates. If the fuse pops immediately it will be easy diagnose, if not, you are going to have to do a little work.

Just an update but I believe I fix the problem. The driver side reverse light was out. After inspection I noticed it was loose, maybe from the trails, reinserted the light and made sure it lighted up. Its been a few days now and no more blown fuse and everything back to normal.

Problem is back, but worst. Now my IG and ACC fuse keeps blowing, fuse panel inside the truck. What’s worst is it blows when I turn the key to ACC. The truck starts but my radio and power windows don’t work and parking shifter is stuck in part unless I use the manual release tab.

I have unplugged the radio head unit, cigarette lighter, both my tail light assembly, and head lights. I checked all the fuses inside the truck and in the engine bay.

Before it was just blowing the IG fuse. Now it’s blows both the IG and ACC fuse. Anything else I can possibly look at or unplug? Something is causing these fuses to blow just by turning my key to ACC.

So it turned out to be the wires going to my shifter. Somehow it was caught on the metal bracket shown in the photo and with time it stripped off the insulation and made contact, grounded out. It's wrapped back up and I also put in a wire protector for more protection. Bright side is I learned a lot about this trucks electrical and I took half my dash apart with ease. Hope this helps someone else out and they can save themselves the headache, time, and money.
