ECT (engine coolant temperature) sensor connector broke

I was replacing my upper radiator hose when I noticed the wire connecting to the sensor right next to the lower part of the radiator hose was extremely loose. Upon further inspection, the connector simply slid off and there were visible broken plastic pieces. I know for a fact the sensor its self is fine, so I don't think I need to replace that. Here are some pictures






How do I fix this?

 

I would try un-doing the crimp of the connector to the blue-ish plastic insulator and then recrimping to the wire.

If that doesn't work, I would still undo the crimp and make a jump from the connector back to the wire (butt connector).

You could also see if Toyota sells the connector (doubtful).

 

this is actually the hardest plug to find it took me 4 years to locate one and they aren't even listed as a tacoma part , it is a coolant temperature sending connector for a toyota supra also known as a 2JZ-GTE 1 pin connector , i actually just found this out today and decided to pass the info along . i realize this thread was posted a number of years ago but hopefully this information will help someone out . i will also post this information to youtube as soon as the new plug comes in

 

it should be a male spade connector the harness side slides over just use the correct size female Heat shrink to keep it clean

Broken connectors seem to happen all to often

I'm sure he figured it out some 10 years ago.

 

Good to know he did. Wasn't clear as to whether he crimped it or found a new one.
I may not be skilled enough to give fixin' advice on here, however every now & then an opportunity presents itself in which I can pay it forward. & maybe someday, someone will be searching through posts to find this part & boila!

 

I forget to check dates myself all to often.

I have on going projects from10 years ago and longer so it might not be fixed yet.

 

ect was a pita to replace in my 3rz as its right behind the head against the firewall and once i took it off it broke and i replaced it, if your opening up the engine i recommend doing it from ther

 

Thank you. I was actually looking around to see if maybe my coolant sensor (not sender) was malfunctioning. “ECT” is used rather loosely or can refer to a few things.
Anyway, I was reading through the threads. A little while back I had needed a connector for my ps power switch. Had a heck of a time finding one, so thought I’d go back, find the item in my purchase history & post it just in case someone ended up here looking for this connector.

 

Something that simple I just make my own to get things working then order the new part which sits on the shelf.

Because my temporary repairs last that long.
