Has anyone installed the EcoFlow 800W Alternator in their Tacoma? I have seen a few installation videos on other trucks and am wondering if anyone has experience or advise on the best spot to feed the cable through the engine to the cab.

it's a DC-DC charger for charging an Ecoflow battery pack off the alternator of a vehicle.

also interested, 800 watts of power and it can reverse charge your battery... sounds pretty epic for me... just make sure your alternator can support it. May buy it by the end of the year.

I like the idea of the alternator charger, but it's too expensive ($440 currently). I'd be better off installing a 120V inverter and charging the ecoflow battery off of that.

I used to use my Taco's 400w inverter to charge my GZ, but the Bluetti I now have uses a 500w power supply, which won't run on the inverter :( was nice while it lasted.

Yeah they've been having heavy discounts this week because of Amazon Prime Day. Jumped on a Delta 2 Max & the alternator. Saved $500 or so.

What are the end purposes of such a device? I am wondering.

What YF Ryan said but also it enables you to charge larger items that require more than 100W when driving. The plug in the bed of the truck allows 400w when idling but as soon as you start driving it dips down to 100w. The generator I bought requires at least 150w. So this enables up to 800w!

The 400w anytime mod is pretty darn simple if you ever feel the need. I did that with my rig.

If I didn’t already have a dual battery setup I would go this route. The problem with the Tacoma factory inverter, even with the 400w anytime mod, is that it’s not pure sine wave.

you can derate the charging current down to as little as 100 watts

The ecoflow I have is adjustable. I can set it to charge at whatever wattage I want, probably between 100-1800W on 120V. 12 V is limited to around 100W without this accessory.

Using the ecoflow alternator charger to power other devices through the ecoflow is a good idea. But a standalone inverter can also power other devices. I don't have the built in inverter, but I'm considering adding an inverter under one of the seats. Unfortunately I sold my pure sine inverter shortly before I bought an ecoflow, before I realized that I'd still need it to charge the ecoflow quickly on the go.

Bluetti, I thought, had just come out with something like this. Only to find out it's not for charging the Bluetti, it's for charging your RV off the bluetti, lol. Luckily, I haven't had any issue with just using solar charging so far. In fact, just bought the Ecoflow 400w portable panel, so I know I'll be good to go. I usually camp in one spot for days at a time, so solar is more beneficial to me than charging while driving. Gonna try hooking it up tonight for the first time!

So if I understand, the purpose of such a device is to charge a battery for an RV? Camper or trailer.

"Tinkerers Adventure" does a good video on Youtube about using a Victron 12/24 converter. It charges my ecoflow delta 2 at 400w. 140$ and then about 40 dollars in solar charging cable and wiring. I've debated buying the ecoflow charger but can't justify the cost when what I have has been more than sufficient.

The trick is to buy it bundled with a supported EcoFlow power station (e.g. Delta Pro). It comes out to like $200 when you get it that way. Just wait for the power stations to go on sale (they are still on sale now in fact) and you're in business.

I just got my Alternator Charger in the mail yesterday, and found this thread with respect to installation. Grateful this thread has already been posted. Looking forward to seeing some install feedback, as I'm planning on mounting the adapter in the back seat area somewhere.

If you're overlanding and boondocking, and you need the power for camp, the Alternator Charger tops off your EcoFlow powerstation while you're out on the 4x4 trails. It's better than lugging around an EcoFlow smart generator, or having to depend on solar charging.
