I had commented about these in another thread and thought I'd post a more comprehensive review here. I wanted a decent set of running boards that offered some protection against other doors in a parking lot, allowed me to access my roof easily (we put paddleboards up top) and would give the lady a little step in.

Coming off building a lot of wranglers and utilized rock rails with steps built in I started looking there but that'd be overkill for my Tacoma as I won't be rock crawling when I offroad. After scouring the internet and reviews I opted to roll the dice on eBay. I liked the size and look of these, and more so, I really liked the $175 price tag. I ordered them Monday night, got a shipping confirmation and tracking number Tuesday and fedEx dropped them off Thursday! They were pretty well packaged. (76lb shipping weight for those interested. Easily installed solo).

Unpacked everything and wrapped my head around the project. 3 brackets per side of the truck. Two of the 3 are identical and the third is for the front most position. Pop out the plastic caps under the truck and these bolt perfectly to the factory positions.

Set the rail on top of the three brackets and position. I lined the rear of each rail up with the rear of the cab pinch seam. Take the silver "U" shaped brackets and slide them into the bottom of the step with their threads hanging down in the receiving slot of the three brackets you first mounted ot the body of the truck.

Check your fitment and confirm everything is where you like it and then zip on the washer, lock washer and nut. I knocked this out in about 45 minutes from unboxing to tossing the trash and enjoyed a beer and played with the dog a bit as she was very excited to sniff the new parts.

Link to parts from DNA Motoring on ebay.

Nice! Those look a lot like the OEM Toyota running boards. Very low-prorofile. I picked mine up used, i'm sure they're expensive at the dealership.

Just got em on. Shitty instructions but hardly needed. If anybody else buys these, don't put too much though into the orientation of the brackets like I did, once you get it on you realize it doesn't matter, I just made em symmetrical from side to side and it is perfect!

Do you think these stick out far enough to prevent door dings ( or shopping carts lol) from hitting the door panels?

My older 2012 Tacoma has those black plastic coated Toyota factory ones and they did stickout far enough to prevent door dings, but my 2016 limited with its basic chrome style bars do not protect anything

These stick out father from the doors, I guess the only danger is from a door that is higher than the running boards, like from a taller truck.

Only threat is taller trucks, which can be resolved by being the larger truck...
