what is the easiest way to wire the third brake light on a camper topper so it doesn't flash with the turn signal on?

This is the way I have the camper topper wired but when the turnsignal is turned on to the left the third brake light turns into a blinking light. This is on a 2024 Tacoma and this is the way the camper dealer wired it. There must be a way to wire the third brake light to the truck so the third brake light stays a brake light and not a blinking light when the turnsignal is turned on.

My Smartcap came with a harness that plugs in-line with the trailer plug harness. So you could connect down there. You can pull the connector out from the back side of the trailer plug.

Stop & Turn is also combined in the trailer plug.

The brake light should be a separate bulb with separate wires than the turn signal. It seems like the dealer didn’t do the wiring from the rear lights correctly and have the signal bulb wires running to it.

In the 4th Gen it's not the usual setup. Stop & Turn are same circuit like towing.

There’s a guy on here @Puppypunter that makes brake light taps. Not sure he has one for the 4the gen yet but it is quite possibly the same wiring. I used one to add a 3rd brake light to my soft topper. Worked great!

As far as I know, the standard for a 7 pin trailer plug is that there's a separate brake light circuit, even if your tail lights are combined.

The easiest way to access brake light circuit on any truck with a 7 pin trailer connector is to buy an adapter and you can run the wires very easily to either corner of the truck bed and up to the cap, usually behind a tail light and thru the top inside of the bed.

The 4th gen does combine the turn/stop, so a simple tap won’t work unfortunately. Your best bet is to use a 2-to-3 adapter and tap off the trailer plug. I think Curt or someone might make a set up for that already? @daveeasa might remember that better than I do. If they didn’t, it is something I can make for sure, but given the cost of parts for me, it isn’t exactly cheap.

Smartcap harness has an adapter box that takes care of it. I would expect that vendors should be coming out with something soon.

My pref is T off cargo, longer wire run but simpler/effective/straightforward and can capture cargo at the same time which is nice for shell dome.

A simple posi-tap at the towing converter and a long wire to cap is the cheapest way. Even if the converter is missing, the connector is there.

That is Q20? Do you know how to access that plug? Looks like it’s in the cab area?
