Looking for some advice. I’d like to add a re-geared selectable locker to my 2.7L 2wd 1st Gen prerunner. There is an OfferUp seller in my area doing a solid axle swap and selling their factory e-locker 3rd member 4.33 gears and axle from a 3.4L for a decent price. My understanding after some research with ECGS and these forums is that the 2.7L 6 lug has an 8.4” and the 3.4L has an 8”. My first question is if there are any compatibility issues with this swap? Second, should I be skeptical of the quality of these components being that the seller is doing a solid axle swap and sounds like they do serious wheeling.

The assembled add e-locker from ECGS is out of budget for me at the moment, but the ARB air locker could be palatable if I add onboard air.

If it's a complete drum to drum elock axle between 6-800, I'll jump on it. Spend another 60 buck for homemade wiring and call it good or pay 2 something for a pre-made harness. You can't swap the third member, 8" elock third will not fit the 8.4" housing or vice-versa.

Lots of folks on here will tell you arb is superior and bla bla bla, which is true but they're still running their trd elocker as well. I see no issue with them especially if you're from a dry state and don't submerge the housing constantly. Just make sure to engage the locker monthly or bi-monthly to keep everything working properly.

Thank you for the feedback! Yes it is drum to drum for $500. I will probably go for it. I just wanted to make sure there were no issues with the drive shaft. I have the Toyota service manual for the 02 and it seems like it would work, but those manuals are not complete information.

Swapping the axle itself will not change anything. It will be a direct drop in.
