I am looking at the DV8 Front Bumper for my 2023 tacoma. I really like it because it does not require cutting any plastic. But, wondering if it fits with the TRD Skid Plate without having to cut it at all. Does anyone know if the DV8 Front Bumper fits along with the TRD Skid Plate?

I put this DV8 bumper on my Taco and then put the TRD skid plate on and everything fit just fine on my 18 SR5, no issues. IMG_5883.png

How are you liking the DV8? I am trying to figure out which stubby bumper to buy. Too many choices.

I’m liking it pretty good. Main reason I got was like OP was saying, didn’t have to cut anything to install. Only thing I don’t like on it (which can’t really see it unless you’re up close staring at it) and that is I bought the DV8 light bar to go with their own bumper but it don’t fit exactly flush on one side. Not a deal breaker but you would think their own stuff would fit like a glove.

I like the no cut option, but the pictures of the mounting brackets look weak compared to the other cheap brands. Do you think it would hold up to a recovery with the d-rings? I'm either getting this or an ARB awning for my next purchase...so hard to choose!

I think it would hold up fine, but not really sure. I hope I don’t have to find out any time soon. I just got my d rings on for looks. As far as brackets went. They seemed thick enough and about the same strength as the brackets I got with my Body Armor rear bumper

Thanks, I hope to mount a bike rack to the d-rings tabs or other fun stuff like that. Also contemplating a front hitch...but I like the extra armor.

    I appreciate the feedback!

Thanks guys, looks like the DV8 is going to be a great option.

I like the Body Armor Highline series… yes I did have to cut, but gives the right amount of beefiness and option to install a winch later if desired

DON'T get the DV8 if you are going to be doing any heavy wheeling or winching. I really liked the low profile look yet functionality of a full bumper but was quickly disappointed. First recovery about ripped the bumper off the truck. I had to drill more holes in the mounting bracket once the bumper was installed to keep from sliding (they are oblong mounting holes so you can get the bumper as close to the truck as possible...it is nice to be adjustable but the recovery points are attached to the outer shell and any force will slide the bumper all the way out) and the mounting brackets are rather weak. I ended up bending the brackets when winching due to the fairlead being so much lower than the winch mounting plate. I also kept the light bar mounting bracket off...I thought it looked really dumb.

TLDR - 9/10 on looks without the light bar attachment; 8/10 on ease of installation; 2/10 on actual functionality of an offroading bumper used for recovery and protection.

Here is a picture from the manufacturers website showing the oblong holes. I put a third grade 8 bolt where the red circle is to keep it from moving. But the flange where the brackets mount to the frame horn is very easily bent up or down.

Also forgot to mention, the Body Armor has wings that can be added on later

Great review, thanks. Appreciate the real works experience. I prefer the looks of the body armor bumper but was trying to avoid the cutting. May just have to get out my cutting wheel and cross my fingers.

Dude! Simple! Take your time, be thorough, I measured like 5x, cut once! Most important enjoy & have some beers (after cutting)!

I thought the DV8 mounting brackets looked sus...thanks. I didn't want to cut, but it's my forever truck, so who cares, right? Function is first in my book and if I can't get yanked on the yank hole without breaking, I don't want it. I'll look again at the B.A. unit.

Awesome review I'm getting ready to buyout my lease on my 21 off-road and have been looking at these style bumpers as i don't plan on heavy offroading though I'm experienced in winch recovery as a 20yrs of tow truck operator I wouldn't have thought of those brackets being a weak point and they should be gusseted where they mount to frame. I've been looking at the calirasied and C4 versions which this write up has pretty much sealed the deal

I bought this bumper and lightbar just waiting for delivery.

Yo be complete honest I am just trying to work on a more offroad type of 'look' for the truck and am hoping to never use the recovery rings and also didn't get the winch as that set up was more then then entire bumper and lightbar.

I've watched a few videos on the I stall and it seems quite easy. I don't really want to mess with the lightbar install as running wires intonthe truck isn't for me anymore. It'll be nice to use up a blank button space inside the truck though!!

Tha KS for the reviews on the bar, they are kinda what I suspected to be honest , more for looks then actual recovery

Just bought the DV8 bumper and light bar and just wanted to ask you if you installed the light bar after putting everything back in place (oem bumper; fenders and front grilled) or you have to install it at the same time?

I got a weird gap and the hardware was missing to install the lightbar mount piece on the bumper which I'm a little annoyed with!! I had the entire truck pulled apart and couldn't get the other stuff installed!! I do not want to pull those fenders off again!!!! I broke all the clips.

I'm hoping when I get the lightbar mount it will hide the gap a little nicer!!
