Has anybody had these tires on their trucks?? I'm running duratracs but it's time to get bigger tires and I'm undecided between getting duratracs again or going with some Baja ATZ P3s.
    Thoughts?

I read people on here saying they're loud, but I read many other reviews saying they're quiet, so I guess we'll see.

I see, I don't care how loud they are, I'm more interested about how they perform off road and their durability compared to goodyear.

I've had them on for about 600ish miles. very good road manners. a little hum on the roads, not over the top. I've driven in a few wet grassy spots that stock tires would probably slip/spin on, and they just drove right through it. they look great too!

    @Rakso

FWIW, I go through tires like I go through underwear. Aside from stock tires, I've had like 6 different sets through my roughly 8 years of owning my 4Runner.

    I've had:
    • Federal Couragia M/T
    • Maxxis Bighorns
    • Cooper S/T (originals)
    • ProComp XTerrains
    • Mickey Thompson MTZ (originals)
    • Maxxis Trepador Radial
I've also ridden and driven other vehicles with various other mud and a/t tires through the years.. Nittos, BFG, Goodyear, etc...

My favorite tire out of everything, the Mickey Thompson MTZ. They're seriously the best tire I've ever came across when it comes to tire specs. Handling, balancing, road noise, tread life, self cleaning, wet/snow conditions, rock crawling, and whatever else you want to throw at it, it will out perform A LOT of big names out there. Not only that but they're typically lighter than most the aggressive tires out out there. May not seem like a huge deal but rotating mass is a huge factor when going to a larger tire.

If the new updated MTZ is suppose to be better than the original, I can't imagine it's performance. I say MTZ.

Comparing the 2 however, is comparing apples to oranges I think. I don't think the Duratrac is anywhere near the same type of tire the MTZ is. Duratrac really isn't an offroad branded tire. It's a really just an aggressive all terrain. A lot of people get them though b/c they do offer an aggressive pattern with good road manners. I don't not like the Duratrac. They have their place. The 2-ply sidewall doesn't sit well with me and a lot of people I know that have them, have gone cut through sidewalls.

    Good luck!

Good info, I'll be buying withing the next months. If mtz are lighter that duratracs I might lean that way. I'm running E duratracs and are really heavy but the side wall is thick as s$@t though, I can go down to 18/16 PSI with no problems.

I'm probably the outlier here, but I hate the Duratracs. Maybe I just have a bad set, but they have been nothing but problems on my work truck and I will never buy them again. The only plus (which is a minus because I want to get rid of them) is that they have pretty good tread life even under the extreme conditions I run them.

I hated my duratracs as well. Best tire I've ever had in deep snow, but couldn't keep 'em balanced and they got LOUD.

The tires weight exactly the same but the M/T will do much better offroad. The Duratracs are famous for snow and ice traction along with longevity.

I went with Duratracs so I didnt have to fear ice when I'm not running my winter tires. Mud terrains suck on ice no matter what anyone says.

I would not get the ATZ. Go for the MTZ, Toyo M/T or Duratracs again.

I find the Duratracs are quiet compared to real mud terrains.

No mention of the Cooper STT Pro's? Why? Not too loud, not too expensive, excellent reviews. Love mine!12651178_1037613452949159_1920351804828846184_n.jpg

Im happy with my Baja STZ tires. They aren't the perfect tire but they perform well and are reasonably priced.
