As I always start with, I read through a million threads, and rather than post my question on some 2012 thread..

When you cut the exhaust pipe off after the rear axle, on the bottom of the down-turn, how much wiggle do you get out of the pipe? I ask because I see that a hanger will be removed, so I assume you will get some left-right movement of the pipe by doing this? I really can't tell until that hanger is gone.

I had the shop chop mine just after the last hanger

welded a turn down tip on and called it good

I really like how it cleaned up the side profile of the truck

Granted, I had a stock SR5 exhaust dangling out in the open

I like yours, that's not a bad way to do it. I just want to skip the part of going to a muffler shop to weld that down pipe on. Here is where I want to cut, which will lose that hanger:

I am really wondering if there would be any rattling..? Of course, you can't tell until you cut, then it's too late.

Hopefully someone who has done it will chime it, otherwise I will probably report back after I cut it there.

I got mine chopped just after the axle the way you are describing and I haven't noticed any rattling.
Just realized this past weekend they didn't remove the hanger so I'm going to chop it just so it's out of the way.
I will try to go out to the truck at lunch and snag a pic and check for wiggle.

Mine is cut in that spot and I have had no issues with it moving around too much or making noise.

Mine is dumped before the axle and no rattling. Only thing is the noise is just a little bit louder in the cab but I’m not complaining

Alrighty thanks everyone. I will make the cut. Still debating if I want to mess with the sound, sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. I have had very loud vehicles in the past, and kind of enjoy the quiet of this truck.

Thanks for the pic. I plan on ending it just behind the axle. But my last pickup started that way and kept getting shorter and louder until it had a Flowmaster with no piping after it. I got tired of that fast though.

I stared at this for so long, thinking to myself "How the hell does he have that much room underneath? My spare is right against the exhaust heat shield... Then I actually looked at the spare tire and realized it most certainly is NOT a 33 hahaha.

You'll be fine chopping it after the dip downwards.
Just tapped it with my hand and its pretty sturdy.

It’s been chopped.. hacksaw and a few minor hand cuts and she’s done.

I am thinking about throwing a Magnaflow on there. I am just afraid of the “ricey” sound. Anyone happen to have a part number for the muffler that would replace stock with no extra piping?

Rather than Magnaflow, go with a Dynomax Super Turbo (17748). Only slightly louder than stock, but gives a nice growl to the exhaust without being ricey/obnoxious.

I wanna say mine is a summit racing . I don’t know a part number but it sounds just like a magnaflow at half the price
