Dumb question on heat coming from the brake pedal area

Was driving today and my brake foot was getting really warm. Hot actually. When I parked, I felt down around the break area and there are two steel tubes/lines that were super hot to the touch. They sit just above the pedal assembly. I could not hold on to them they were so hot. What are these things for? Why would they be so hot. I never noticed this before and just had my truck serviced by the dealership this morning. Thanks for your help folks.

Without a picture I can't say for sure but I would assume they're HVAC lines.

Initial impression is that something doesn't sound right. I can't imagine what would be hot enough that your foot is feeling hot. I can't imagine the HVAC system, alone, gets hot enough to do that.

    Any CEL?
Not sure if there's a catalytic converter down there, but if they get unusually hot, they can heat floorboards.

If I'm guessing correctly, those would be lines leading from your engine coolant system into your heater core. Strange that you'd be able to feel them radiating that much from your feet though. That, or the AC lines doing the same thing, but I'd be more inclined to believe the former.

Definitely looks like the air conditioning lines, coming from the cold coil and or going to the condenser to be cooled off.

well I was wearing flip flops. I had my Pedal Commander line twist tied to these things to get it up out of the way but maybe that's not such a wise idea. I'll keep an eye on it. Thanks fellas!

I noticed the same thing too when I was installing my PC. I thought I better not wrap that cable tight around those tubes.

Just pop the hood find where they come through the firewall and see where they trace back to either the A/C or the block. Done deal.

If they're both too hot to touch then they are probably heater core lines, makes sense too as the cold line on the A/C would generate condensation and should have a drip tray under it.

IIRC the 2nd gens heater and cooler lines go through the passenger side.

If they're too hot for your flip flop feet you could wrap them in Reflectix and foil tape.

    :notsure:

Too many trucks and mods to list.. check builds
Those are the lines for the heater core. There’s 180 degree coolant running through them. If it’s noticable, get some pipe insulation

Maybe some type of full coverage shoe technology is warranted.

What is this “pedal commander” you speak of? An A.M. electronic throttle adjustment module?

Basically. It doesn't give you more power or anything, but changes how the computer reads your pedal input. Jeepers also use them quite a bit.

Pedal Commander is this thing you hook up to your gas pedal that sends a fake signal to the engine to work a little harder. Sorry for my late reply and I'm sure you already googled it, but after about one month of PC on my 2019 Taco Off Road, I have to say I really like it. It gives you a lot of get up and go and I don't even use it on it's max setting. If you are unhappy with that squishy feeling you get when you step on the gas, then get the PC. It's only like $150 or so. You can hook it up in like 10 minutes.
