My 98 trd has check engine light on and chek with code reader displays P0001...fuel volume regulater control circuit open... I have asked other drivers about this code and they mostly say it is an unused code and means nothing....If so why does it return? I have checked the wiring for the fuel pressure regulater and if looks ok. does anyone know what to check or replace to placate this code... Thanks for ypu help..

That is not a code used by Toyota on the 98 Tacoma. Are you sure it is not a P0101?

Absolutely certain, The code reads P0001, verbage "Fuel Volume Regulater, Control Circuit Open". I reappeared yesterday and I checked again to be sure. I guess I will leave the check engine light on for a few days and see what happens. Everything seems to be functioning ok.

I would try and find another code reader to see if the same code appears on that tool.

That code does appear in lists of codes, but my '99 FSM does not list it.
The first code mentioned in the diagnostics section is P0100.

Its a generic code, but i dont think it applies to this car. You would be experience other drivability issues relating to lack of fuel mixture control. Many generic codes are obsolete but are still stored inside code readers. I would clear the code and see if it comes back in a few cycles.
