Hello Everyone, I've been watching this forum for a long time and have recently gotten into the Dry ice blasting business I've mostly done food production and industrial cleaning jobs. I know it is commonly used in the automotive industry (especially in Australia, Europe and some restoration/ detailing shops in the states).

But to the point i wanted to hop on and ask if anyone here has considered the service of dry ice blasting and some form of underbody coating for their Toyota truck as preventive maintenance? Is this something you have heard of or looked into? Is it something you would consider having done to your Toyota? (Not my photos but for reference this is a before and after of dry ice blasting then a rust barrier applied.)

Can you get inside the front frame rails? That would be a great service for rust belt trucks.

Maybe i miss understood, the C channel frame we can do where it is common for delamination, but the forward boxed frame rails we cannot get inside.

    That's unfortunate.
Yeah, I'm specifically interested in the inside of the boxed sections, those rot from the inside, and are almost impossible to keep clean.

I know dry ice blasting is used to clean HVAC ducts, I was hoping the tooling was small enough to get inside the boxed frame.

I never knew dry ice blasting existed. Looks like a great job though.

I’ve seen a lot of dry ice blasting in automotive and the results are awesome. It’s nice being able to do plastic and carbon bits vs typical sand, glass, walnut, etc.

Dry ice is awesome. Amazing results. But your question (OP) needs to be qualified with cost. If it were $300 a lot of people would do it. I'd do it every other year. But $1500 is a steep bar to have a part of the truck detailed that one almost never sees. So question is what do you charge for a Tacoma size vehicle?

We are located in northern Utah but there are plenty of guys doing it around the country. Chances are you can find someone to do it!

There are some applicators used to clean out pipes, I will experiment with one of those!

In a world where people scrimp on sourcing the cheapest LBJs to save a few bucks, the cost of DIB will absolutely prevent it from becoming a "thing."

The going rate is about $250 an hour for automotive Blasting, and the typical truck takes an average of 4 hours.
