I’ve already made a thread about this but I need some professional help now, I have clean out all the rust of the drum and clean all my hardware ( hardware looks fine) I bought drum shoes also and thought they were defective so I when and changed them. And took all the components off and did the drum brakes again and I still have the grinding noise. Could it be the I need a new rotor for the drum brakes? Or what could it be, it brakes good it’s just that grinding sound it bothering me

Take it to a professional. Drum brakes dont have rotors . It has drums . I can see where your problem is .

Make sure that both sides are assembled correctly:

Does either one feel hot when after you drive it and use the brakes? If one is significantly hotter than the other, it will tip you off to which one is giving you the trouble. Any chance you accidentally swapped hubs from one side to the other when you had them apart? They do wear in to each other.

    You mean drums, not hubs.

Do the drums measre to spec, or do they need turning?

    1- dont use hand brake

2- drive ALL sytems OFF around deserted mall parking lot
    no grinding should be heard

3- use Ur brakes goin in both directions tight circle
    no grinding should be heard

bad or warped drums should NOT be making contact unless U use brake pedal
both wheeels should turn free unless the wheel cylinders are frozen

all shoes are adjusted tooooo tight

or the hand brake does not release

My suspect is the backing plate is rubbing or rusted.

The drums will have shiny spots where its touching.

Yes, I meant drums.. Not thinking straight. I did that a while back and had one that was getting hot. I couldn't figure out why and it occurred to me one night that I might have inadvertently switched one when I had them in my shop, removing the ridge. I swapped them back and the problem was solved.

Could just be an accumulatom of brake dust as well.

anyone get noise from the drum brakes when not braking? i thought i had a bad bearing but bearings feel and sound fine with no play. I did drive in some very sticky muddy roads so I think maybe some mud is trapped in the drum? Got new tires too so that's not it. at low speeds it's like a cyclical humming noise and and at high speeds it makes a very slight tire-like noise but i know it's not the tires. both sides feel like the same temperature after driving.

Basics. Tires, painted headlighes, UHLM, baby winch in the bed, and heated mirrors :)
D'oh! lol glad you got it sorted. Just make sure there's no significant wear on the shaft when it was rubbing.
