Working on my truck this afternoon and found myself opening the hood of my truck with one hand that was holding a small thin washer. As pulling up my hood, the washer slipped out of my hand and fell down the hood and rolled across my windshield and fell into one of the wiper holes. Ridiculous I know. Anyone know how to get into there? It’s a tiny washer so I wonder if it’s okay just to leave it.

I'm thinking there has to be a way to remove the wiper blade and use one of those magnet things to fish it out. Was it a metal washer?

Someone on here probably has a better idea on how to access it. Also, I'm sure it isn't going to hurt anything, so leaving it would be solution.

    I believe it’s a water drain you’re referring to. I wouldn’t worry

I’ll probably wait and leave it until I pull it apart. If I start hearing it sliding around, I’ll probably start pulling everything apart. Yeah hopefully it is a drain, just the hole that the wiper comes out of.

yeah it’s a thin metal washer.

The dreaded wiper hole, I park under a tree that loves to fill the wiper hole up I have to use tweezers to get the shit out otherwise it will plug the drain hole. In your case if the washer was bigger probably can fish it out otherwise I wouldn’t worry.

It's easy to get in there, remove that wiper cowl every year to clean leaves and pine needles out from under it. You have to remover wiper arms and pop clips, carefully.

Hit it with a blast of air from a compressor if you or a neighbor have one.

Telescoping magnet thingy? My buddy who is a mechanic has one that we used to fish washers out of my frame after we removed my sliders. It literally was like a back scratcher but had a magnet on the end instead of a back scratcher.

Thank you for your service in this thread lol you beat me to it

Haha happened to me too. Lost a washer. Tried using the magnet but that didn’t work. Time passed by and I forgot about it until I saw your thread.

That wiper cowl is flimsy as shit.
I pulled mine without busting any clips but broke at least one putting it back on.
