Where the driveshaft bolts to the rear end does the washer go under the bolt head or on the nut side? I removed the driveshaft for various reasons and didn’t pay attention to the orientation. As best I can tell from the factory service manual, the washer is placed under the bolt head (nut under the nut)?
Also, I have new OEM nuts and bolts but don’t have new washers. Is a basic split lock washer what is called for here?
    Thanks.

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
Lock washer goes in front of the nut

On my drive shaft the bolts have a flange and both the flat washer and lock washer are under the nut.

I am sure the driveshaft has been removed several times in 20 plus years.

If in doubt follow your FSM

I bet that you'll find they'll only work "one way". Like you won't be able to get the bolt in because it doesn't fit, so you have to go from the other side.

thanks for the illustration. I read this as positioning the washer going under bolt head - am I seeing this correctly?
I am used to seeing a washer being under the nut...

Correct. Here is an exploded view with torque values.
