Hey wondering if someone can help me with my problem I hear a squeaking noise coming from my rear end of my truck. I only hear it on acceleration, don't hear it over bumps or potholes, when I jump on the end of my bed I hear a squeak coming from my wheel drum area, don't think it's my leaf springs... Anyone can help? It's super annoying and I've looked at many threads trying to figure it out.

Check your driveshaft u-joints for play. A squeaking/chirping under acceleration is a common sign that one or more u-joints needs to be replaced. Also look at the driveshaft center support bearing while you're under the truck checking out the u-joints.

Okay sick thanks Yeah I’ll definitely check all of them out. I checked my rear u joint it didn’t see to have play. I did some research that your wheel bearing can squeal and get high frequency on acceleration, you think that would be the problem maybe? I’m all ears, anything to get the squeak to go away haha

From what you described, the squeak is apparent under load. So it sounds to me like it’s either rear shocks or leaf springs. I had rear shocks squeak like crazy. Usually the bushings on them being old and worn out. Strange that you wouldn’t hear it over bumps if you hear it when jumping on the bed tho.

Bad wheel bearing usually have humming/roaring noise rather than squeaking so that wouldn't be the first thing on my list. If you jack up the truck and it isn't drive shaft related go ahead and check if there's any noise from the bearings though.

Also check out the springs/shocks and their bushings wear as suggested above. Since you said the truck doesn't make the noise going over bumps/holes suspension might not be the issue.

If all that looks fine then take off the drum and look for problems with the brake itself.

If none of the above solves it the problem may be in the differential/pinon.

I experience pretty much the same thing with my 13. I recently put new shocks on so I can rule that out. My money is on leaf springs. My experience is that if it's rotational (Ujoints, bearing, brakes) the sound will be consistent with the speed of the rotation. Leaf springs are subject to many different forces, I can jump up and down in the bed all day long and no squeak but every time on acceleration I hear it so I think it's something to do with the windup from the acceleration force and not the vertical up and down force. IDK but I'll be interested to see if there's a solution other than replacing all the rear end components and hoping one of them fixes it.

It’s the leaf springs. I have the same issue. Been like that for years and I’ve just been too lazy to replace them.

So long story short, think you guys are on to something I'm gonna replace my leaf spring bushings see if that does anything if not replace my leafs, it's definitely not my u joint or my axle /wheel bearing ... I'mma try put bike tube in between my leafs see if that helps, and If that's the issue

You could always spray down your leafs with Fluid Film and see if that makes the squeak go away.

When I put in my add-a-leaf I coated mine with motorcycle chain lube, they were quiet for about 2 weeks. Maybe fluid film would last longer.

FF worked ok for me for a while. Now I use straight up NLGI #2 grease. Chock front wheels and jack the truck up from the hitch to get full droop. With a big flat blade screwdriver apply a scoop of grease between each leaf on the pad front and back. A cold chisel or prybar can help spread the leafs apart a bit more.

@Toyotagang you might try that first before spending $ on parts.

Ya, if a leaf is bent I'd replace the entire pack. If you've got the original springs there was a recall on them that might get you a new set from the dealer. You can check out the info on the forum or check
    https://www.toyota.com/recall

If you don't qualify for that then the next cheapest option is to get some takeoffs from someone's 3rd gen that went with an aftermarket pack.

I often pressure wash the anti squeak pads. Usually helps with the squeaking noise for a bit
