so i pull over the other day to secure a roof load, window is up and a semi comes blowing by and the wind he pushes by blows the door open against the stops. now the door makes a noise shutting and the window goes only half way down.
i gotta drive across the country in a couple days ,so any ideas men?

Hyperextended the door. Probably broke the "check strap". That's the sliding thingy that limits how far the door will open. It's near the hinges. Hopefully the door, hinge pillar, or hinges aren't bent.

I can tell you exactly what you're going to find because this happened to the silver '06 in my sig. Door check broke and when you closed the door, the inside-the-door part of it was driven into the forward window track. The bent track is preventing the window from rolling down. You can take off the door panel and remove the track with two bolts, one top and one bottom. Put it on the bench and gently tap/bend/coerce it back into shape. You'll have to fit it a couple of times and keep bending until the window goes up and down. What I wish I had done, in the interest of saving time, was to buy a new one from one of the Toyota online parts houses. I recall it being about $26.

And to add - if you open the door and look inside the forward door jamb, you'll probably see a mark somewhere showing you where the door check rod slammed into the door jamb when the door was closed. On mine, it actually went into the very leading edge of the outside door skin, dinged it, and flaked off a spot of paint.

The black rod in the middle is what you are looking for as being broken. Note that it may be broken inside the door, so you'll have to take the panel off.

Here's the diagram for a 2007. You're looking for #3 on your truck. Looks like $38.

Weird that that can happen, huh? You'd never think to look there.

The check rod can be had from either a Toyota online parts house or from Amazon. Find the part number online and check Amazon.

So, the lesson learned here is if the check strap breaks, don't slam the door shut. Do you think it's possible to gently shove the check strap into the door before you close the door?

Open the door and remove the inner panel and inspect the track. Replace as needed.
