Ok, so I've looked around at some info here and realized what has started happening to my truck in the past 3 days isn't covered by the TSB related to driveline vibration. A few nights ago we were driving around, and came to a stop, I turned right at the light and upon accelerating, there was a strong vibration that seemed to come from the rear of the truck for approximately 3-5 seconds, and then stopped. It was very similar to the rumble strip feeling I've seen others talk about during deceleration. It only happened once that night. The next day it happened twice, both times after coming to a complete stop, and then accelerating out of a turn. Today, it happened twice on the way to work. Once while accelerating after a stoplight, the next time it just happened while driving on the highway.

It seems very sporadic. I would take it in to the dealer, but I know they're going to have to ride along and see for themselves. With it being so random right now, I'm not sure what to do. All the U bolts seem to be tightened down well enough. Any other things I should check?

Happens when you accelerate faster than normal and only in first gear?

    Could be almost anything...
    How many miles?
Do you have the grease zerks on the rear driveshaft? Toyota discontinued them in June/July of 2016.
If so, have they been getting greased?

No, normal acceleration. And the first couple times it happened, I believe it was in first or second gear. I'll have to pay closer attention on the drive home. But it has also happened doing 45-55 on the highway as well.

Approx. 32k miles. Yes, I have zerks on the driveshaft, and They're due to be greased again since I just rolled over 30k.

I guess I shouldn't have assumed the dealership would take care of that during my services. I will be handling it from now on though. I'll get all of them greased this evening and see if that helps me. I DID grease them myself after taking delivery of the truck...not that it matters much now though...

    That's good...
They weren't greased/purged from the factory; only assembly/packing grease.

Make sure to purge them; pump grease until new grease appears out all 4 seals.

Look for excessive play in the center carrier bearing. That was my fix.

I didn't think about that. That's another simple one. I'll check that out as well. Thanks!

Let me see if I can stumble through it myself. If I can, then maybe I can go back and make a fairly detailed writeup for dummies like me :drunk:

Sorry to revive an old thread but was a fix ever found? My '18 OR has this problem. I'm able to replicate it every time from a stop, and it's exactly as described (almost like driving on rumble strips). I only have 1100 miles on my truck and it is completely stock. It is currently at the dealership getting looked at but it would be nice to have other opinions as the dealer tried to deny there was a problem once already.

Did you get the ECGS bushing installed? If you haven’t do not even attempt to diagnose anything else until you get the driver side CV needle bearing replaced with the ECGS bushing. Period

Nothing has been done. Dealer told me the vibration they couldn’t replicate first time is now a “normal” thing. My vibration is clearly coming from the back. Isn’t the needle bearing on the front diff?
