So I was planning on going to a drive in movie. And I remembered when the ignition is off and in accessory mode it automatically shuts off after 15 min or so..

Anyone have any tips? How do i keep the truck off but the radio on for a couple hours?

    Thanks in advanced

Is it possible to put the truck in gear in accessory mode?

Just tried it in "accessory mode" doesn't let me get into neutral. Maybe you meant with the "ignition ON" mode?

Pulled this from the "tips and tricks" sticky:

    36. If you leave the transmission in neutral while parked in ACC mode and pull the hand brake, the radio seems to not have a turn off timer. A user reported over 2 hours of radio time while at a drive-in movie while using this method.

While the truck is on, put it in neutral, and then turn it off. The radio will remain on

Are you sure it's not a cover up for the Ace Tomato Company? Have to be of a certain age to get this one.

When i go to the drive in I just take a portable radio and tune it to whatever frequency the drive in is broadcasting on :notsure:
That way I won't have to worry about potentially needing a jump

I just prefer using a portable radio. Plus when my girlfriend and I go, I back the truck in and we sit in the bed on an air mattress.
Probably be fine without killing the battery, but just one less thing for me to have to think about.

If you're battery dies at the place we go to, all you have to do is pop your hood and they have employees come around after the show to jump you.

We have a drive-in movie theatre here in my home town, on the weekends they start lining up outside up to 4-hrs before movies start. Its a fun time !
They still have the old speakers you hang on your window or you can tune your radio to listen. There's not too many of these drive-ins left today, im fortunate to have one within 5-miles of my house

We have TWO drive-ins here in Kansas City. They're super popular and always busy on the weekends. Double features for $10, always new releases too! Pretty sweet to sit in the bed of the Taco and chill.
