    Hi guys,
I live in Florida and as you know here we are straight flat roads. I recently drove my 2017 SR5 4x4 crew Taco for the first time to the Georgia mountains and while going stip downhills (regular paved road) in high gear the automatic gear suddenly shifts down to a lower gear. It happened a few times, not every downhill. Is this normal? anyone familiar with a similar situation?

do you mean going down hill and touched the brakes and then dropped a gear?

If so yes completely normal. Part of the hill descent feature. Uses engine braking to help prevent you from taking off.

Mine only downshifts if braking (rarely) or using cruise control. We have lots of mountains here

Thank you very much for explaining. It could be that I press the brakes lightly.

    Lots of sail boat fuel
Engine braking . Helps prevent brake fade from heat on long decents
