Really good review.. funny how 30 seconds in he talks about the oddity of having adaptive cruise control but manual seats and the fact that 99% of people dont know what the ect button does.

I like his channel and am surprised he wasn’t more critical. It seems everyone gripes about the seating position and transmission when they first drive it.

I'm 6'4" and the position never bothered me at all. I don't get the hate.

Haven't drove a 3rd gen, but I've sat in 2 different ones. 1 with sun roof and 1 without. I'm 6'1 and they both felt great and have plenty of room.

I'm not big on Doug either but he sees some pretty funky cars. The Lagonda he reviewed was pretty ridiculous

He used to be fairly entertaining w/ sophomoric humor, irreverence, etc. Playing ping-pong on a GT3 wing and goofing on the GT3 owner's forum was classic.

Been waiting for this for a long time. Doug has a lot of experience with tons of different vehicles, very interesting to see what he thinks of what I currently drive.

I agree I read and watch reviews after I buy the car...for validation LOL.

I literally bought an ‘03 Z4 a few years ago having never seen one in person and knowing nothing about the car, except that it was COOL. I then read up on it feverishly, and found that, except for some minor fixable issues, I had made a very good decision.

I did read up on the Tacoma a fair amount before buying, but still appreciate reviews which validate my POV. Like 98% of all vehicle owners.

Question to all who replied... What difference does it make what some random guy on the internet thinks about your truck? Is he an automotive engineer with 30 year's experience? Has he penned some amazing mechanical design? Is he a drivetrain expert? Wait, maybe he is crew chief or driver for Baja 1000 team or he designs King of Hammers trucks?
Ergonomic engineer? Head of a test lab?
Never mind... I looked him up. He has a BA in Econ from... Emory. What a hotbed of technology that Emory.

Not all torso sizes are the same. Another 6'4" fellow could have a different torso size than you and find it uncomfortable.

    Hey dude don’t knock Emory...

I say this as a proud Emory grad class of ‘82C and ‘86M.

JK. I don’t know much about him. He was born AFTER I graduated med school, so a young punk for sure. My other comment is he sure doesn’t sound like an Atlanta native.

Emory didn’t/doesn’t have any real car culture. They do have a joint degree with GA Tech, which was not available when I went there, otherwise I probably would have done it, as Tech was another school I was considering.

I don’t know much about him. His review was fairly cursory, and he didn’t take it off road or anything, but he does point out several of the Tacoma quirks and successful design choices.

I honestly believe he is being paid by automakers now, his format with average vehicles has become incredibly basic and more positive than negative so I take everything he says with a grain of salt. That said, if I'm bored, his videos provide a bit of entertainment. It's cool to see what unique features cars have that are out of my reach. Never fall alseep with his videos on though, I still have nightmares from his voice.
