    hey guys,

I really want to beef up my audio since I do a lot of driving and music is important. Speakers are done. I was wondering if anyone has installed a sub in their 4 door 2016 yet, and how/where it was mounted.

    Thanks!

Subed, I didn't get the JBL, figured its money I can put into my own system. Tell us more about what you have done so far.

I didn't think it was worth the money, I needed to order the tech package to get it, and not worth it in my eyes. Also when I listened to it, there was a noticible difference, but I was not wowed by it.

It's not great. Looking back on it now, I probably wouldn't have gotten my truck with the tech package. I never use the sunroof, and I'll be putting a rack up top soon so it really won't get used. Just a bunch of wasted switch real estate and buttons I'll never use, and an extra couple thousand.... Oh well :notsure:

my thoughts exactly. As nice as the sun/moon roof are, just another thing to go wrong, and I really have no use looking inside my canoe while driving. Then there is the other crap.

    Thanks for sharing your reflections.

It's got a cop motor, a 440-cubic-inch plant. It's got cop tires, cop suspension, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas.
Im interested in this too. Honestly I had kindof written off putting an aftermarket stereo in due to wanting to keep the stock head unit obviously.

Does anyone know if the stock premium/non jbl head unit has pre-outs?

I will say though that I do like the head unit. I've had no problems with it so far and it's everything I could ask for in a head unit for my personal use. I couldn't turn down the truck though as it was almost exactly what I was looking for, whether it had the tech or not. Love my 3rd gen

Out of curiosity how different is the behind the seat storage as compared to a 2nd gen double cab? I'd be curious as to if a 2nd gen double cab behind the seat subwoofer box would fit.

I don't have mine yet, so I can not comment on the head unit, but I plan to use it for a while before considering anything, the speakers will get replaced way before the head unit.

I saw a video last night on youtube from OEM Audio + that had a plug and play upgrade kit with a sub behind the driver's side rear seat. Looked like it was really well designed, but I dont know how it sounds. $1499.

If you take the plastic bins out from behind your seats we can test fit my dual 10" box. (Width 49" x Top Depth 3-1/2" x Bottom Depth 7-1/2" x Height 18-1/2") per the manufacturer's website.
If this helps at all, this is what the 2nd gen's look like without the bins.

I saw that too, but 1500 bucks, I think better can be had. I have not researched much yet, need to replace the Subaru's system first, make the wife happy.

I honestly don't plan on replacing my head unit unless it absolutely takes a shit on me. It's already got the bluetooth + phone integrated, steering wheel controls, HD radio, XM (that I don't use anymore), navigation. I feel I'd have to spend too much money on a new head unit to get all those features.
I haven't taken my plastic bins off, but we might as well take my whole truck apart while we've got the time, right?

This is nice, but I store my first aid kit, spare TP, and other small gadgets back in that slot. I don't want to lose what little storage I've got

Than just build it without the sub ;)
