When I'm driving, there is a bad squeaking coming from both doors (driver and passenger), above the windows. I think I narrowed down to the seals against the body. When I open both the drivers side and access cab doors, and then close just the driver door, I can tell the seal squeaks on the painted body surface. I tried waxing the body surface where the seals meets it and armour-alled the seals but without even test driving it, closing just the driver door and applying different pressure recreates the seal rubbing squeak.

Is the seal gone bad or does the door need to be tightened? The door appears solid on its hinges to me and the locking mechanisms on the access and driver door seem solid.

    Any advice is appreciated.

Try some silicone lube? The kind you can use on rubber.

Thanks. That was my next plan although I thought that may be hiding the symptoms versus fixing the root cause.

Ive tried everything on mine(not 303), still does it, sounds like peeling tape off or something sticky, not a squeek though. Went to dealer and looked at a new one, did the same thing, must be the type of rubber the weatherstrip is made from.

Everytime I detail the interior of the truck, I wipe all the seals with whatever I am using for the interior. Lately it's been Turtle Wax Ice, nice smell, no high shine, ... and no squeaking seals ever. Make sure your door hinges are tight/aligned.

    .
Spray some silicone (not WD-40) on a rag and wipe the rubber seals ... helps to stop squeaks and rubber will last longer too.

A racing guy that I know even sprays silicone on his CV boots and etc. (works basically on almost anything that is rubber).

I have had this problem on my truck since last october when I bought my truck. I thought it was just mine!! Kinda relieved to hear it's not.

Keep me updated if you fix it.

I seemed to have gotten rid of the squeak. I cleaned the painted surface where the seal meets and waxed it. I put Armor All on the rubber itself. It's been a month and still no squeak.

Awesome! My 08 Access Cab is doing this and it is driving my anal retentive ass crazy. Your fix is EXACTLY what I intended on doing to try to fix the squeaking/rubbing sound. I'm on it tomorrow morning and will report back with results as well.....

My truck is doing this relentlessly, driving me crazy. So, have you narrowed it down to where the glass goes in the window-track at the top of the door, or is is where the window seal meets the door on the outside?

Dealer has seen the truck 3 times for this, and can't fix it. Even opened a case with Toyota, but they can't figure it out either...

    Any help greatly appreciated.

Read my earlier post. For me its where the rubber door seal meets the painted surface. After a year mine is doing it again. It is really bad when I pull into my work parking lot that has a slight grade at the entrance. The truck chassis flexes and all the rubber seals on the doors squeak. I need to wax the paint and armor all the rubber seals again.

OK, I'll give it a try today, and will also hit it with silicone lube.

This truck has been the biggest surprise ever - meaning I'm surprised at the NUMEROUS quality and build issues it has. Considering it's the 8th year of this model, and all these issues are well documented with thousands of customers experiencing them, I'm utterly disappointed in Toyota.

Do you also have the axle-wrap issue causing vibrations on acceleration? Mine has it so badly, the steering wheel shakes if I use even half-throttle through 1st and 2nd gear...

My wife's Highlander, which carries a nearly identical sticker price to my Taco (dbl cab, TRD offroad 4X4) is a far superior car. The profit margin on these Tacos must be amazing considering how they cheaped out on everything.

I applied Armor All to the rubber seals and cleaned the painted surfaces and the squeaking it gone again, hopefully for another year. lol

My 09 Access cab has done this the entire year I've owned and it drives me crazy !!

Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou for the tips on curing that annoying rubber seal squeek!

Not a big fan of Armor All but do have some silicone spray in the garage.

Will be breaking it out tonite for sure! :D

I too have horrendous door seal noise, it started before 5k miles and mostly on the drivers side only a bit on the passengers side under harder flexing. At the contact surface where the rubber meets the paint there are wear marks from the movement of the door ~3/8" wide around nearly the whole door. But, it makes most of the noise right by my left ear up top.

I'm going to clean the seals and a wipe them with silicon, but I too felt this was a bandaid fix. If it's not just me I suppose I have to accept it.

My wife's 2012 Kia Sportage does this too. I figure it is not specific to Tacomas. if the above fix lasts a year, then its not a big deal to me.

Since I redid mine, it is still quiet.

So I decided to go in for a closer look. This is simply a design flaw - the window channel seal rubs on the inside of the door channel where it sits when the truck chassis has any flex at all. Eventually, this will wear out the paint, and the long term will be that moisture will get trapped in there, I'll end up with rusty doors...

Silicone lube fixes it right up, and given that it's pretty tightly sealed in there, I think it will last a while, but how utterly disappointing to find yet another (in addition to the axle wrap situation) known quality problem with these trucks that Toyota couldn't care less about.

I'll tell you one thing, my 42 year old GMC doesn't have this problem!
