Hey guys, I have a noise coming from the door right next to my head wherever I go over bumps that I can't stand. It sounds like the seals are sticking and un-sticking over and over (it's not the kazoo noise although i have that too).

I know it's a common problem because I saw a thread about it but I can't find it again. I remember that the common fix was to put electrical tape on the door where the seals contact but I tried it today and it didn't help at all.

Do any of you guys that have dealt with this problem know of any other solutions? The only solution that I have found is to turn my music up but I can't always do that.

Also if someone could post the link to that other thread that would be great. Thanks in advance.

a little white lithium in a spray can. I had the same problem in my FJ especially when colder. Spray a little on a cloth and rub down all your rubber door seals.

Body shop trick: I put a 2x4 across diagonally from the roof to the rear door and then flexed the driver's door against it.

In the thread there is steps on how to do it. I suggest to pull very light and work your way up. It did not take much to get it right and I'm so happy with the results.

OK, so the sound your describing is the rubber door seal rubbing on a painted metal surface? If that's what it is make sure the seals are clean, then some spray silicone on a cloth applied to the door seals should work. You may have to do this a few times since the door seal really likes silicone. If it still persists, try a little talcum power or even baby powder. I've even heard of guys using bar soap. If it's still there, check for door hinge wear or some other mechanical issues causing the door movement. That's about all I got, hope it helps.

Try cleaning the door seal and the door where they make contact really good like as if it where new and report back.

If its the same sound I get when they get dirty

All I know is if you grease the hell outta something, of course the noise will go away but why the movement? Worn hinges, pins? Silicone is notorious for picking up dirt so it's not a case of a little works so more will be better. Just my thoughts, good luck! Hope you find a solution.

For the kazoo noise there are updated from door seals that fix that. Had that problem with my truck, didn't notice till I did an hour and a half trip north to visit my sister and brother inlaw, real annoying with a cross wind. New LF and RF door side seals under warranty and problem solved. There's a TSB for it.

Also for the door bend you just need to be firm yet gentle. I've done it to a few vehicles. Also make sure the window is down, didn't have it happen to me but my boss told me a story.

Give everything else a shot first and see if you luck out. After I spent over $80 on 'fixes' and nothing was working I just decided to bend the door and it did fix it for me. I did seals, goo, lube, drip line tubing, tape, foam, sound deadener, adjust the door, etc, etc.

Have you tried taking the tacoma for the TSB on the door seal?

My 2015 qualified for the TSB, I see you have one as well

The TSB is 4519 in Canada but I don't have a copy at the moment.
