Gust of wind took my door today and it looks like it broke the door check mount. Is it possible to kinda tack weld it? It seems like where the door check is bolted to the door. I’ve attached a pic

it can be welded , they would have to unscrew it to see the extent of the damage

Just did 2 fender bolts in it, seems to be holding better and doesn’t make as much noise in that last inch or 2 when closing the door

I would remove the nuts and grind those cracks clean and down to bare metal. A dremel will get in there fine. If the cracks can be compressed together, I’d do that before stitching. If not, weld the cracks, grind flush to sit washers. And tack the washers down also for extra insurance.

EDIT: you can use smaller washers to be able to weld around the washer. Otherwise, you’ll have to open up the factory hole a bit.

Just FYI, those washers won't be a permanent solution. Those cracks have exposed bare metal, it will be begin to rust quickly. You need to get it repaired or at least sealed ASAP.

Truck is always oiled so not overly worried about it, but I’ll probably try to find a smaller washer and weld

How about sanding it down, clean it and then JB weld it? Then add those washers on top as you did?

I’ve used jb weld in the past and I’ve found it doesn’t do well with flex. Its strong when not needing to flex if that makes sense lol

no, jb weld, despite the name, is just an epoxy. it doesn't actually weld the surfaces together, and won't last long-term in a flexing situation.

+1 to that. I used it to fix my gel coat when I skimmed a rock with my old seadoo. It couldn’t handle the flex the gel coat and Fiberglass would give

Thanks, learn something new every day. I've used jb weld a lot but you're right, nothing that actually flexes.
