Anyone else had this happen? Seems like a pretty poor design. I was sitting at a light the other day and heard a loud pop. Sounded like a rock hit the door. Then my window wouldn't roll down all the way. I figured the track had just come off and it'd be an easy fix. When I took it all apart, the door check had somehow hit the track and bent it. From this thread it seems like it happens occasionally. But I don't remember my door getting caught by the wind recently.

I didn't want to take it all back apart after I had stuff shipped. So I was able to bend the track back with a vise, a steel table, and by putting some pieces of steel plate inside and whacking it with a hammer.

I don't want this to happen again in a year if I replace the door check, No one around me had it in stock, nor did I feel like tearing the door apart again once I got the part. So I just ground the piss out of it with a flap wheel until it had plenty of clearance.

Door still stops fine. I'll update this if it ever breaks. Seems like a bit of a design flaw to me. I feel sorry for whoever has this happen with the window rolled down... Didn't find a ton of info so hopefully this helps someone.

When the door is closed is the check supposed to go behind the track or in front ?

    Thanks for this.

I am facing this same thing and didn't want to buy a used door (cheaper than ordering new parts and you get extra switches, door glass...etc)

I belive it's supposed to go in front. Doesn't seem like it would fit in the back.

Strange my new door check is hitting the track and going behind it not in front of it when doors closed . I have a picture of door almost closed but you can see what I mean . I took the track out and it didn’t really seem too bent up to me . Has what looks like a normal curve that it’s supposed to have ?

Oh geez, Looks like part of your stop mechanism came out and is stuck on the end. If you look at mine it doesn't have that block on it. Looks like they modified the 3rd gens too fix my issue though since yours has the vertical pin.

Can you remove the track and leave the window in place?

Have this exact problem and would like to pull the track and try to massage it back into working order. If I can do it without pulling the window, I would be a lot happier.

Ya, should just come out with the 2 nuts and pulling the rubber out of the track. Just make sure the window is up.

Can confirm it does come out without removing the glass. I have taken mine out when it has gotten bent.

    Thanks for this.
I used it yesterday, now my window goes down & up.
I replaced frame & door stop, both from junkyard.

Glad to hear that worked out for you. I called a salvage/junk yard today, and they are having a look for me. I hope I can get both the frame and the door check.
