2018 Tacoma...does anyone know if you can turn off the door ajar ding? With the truck off, and my driver door open, the ajar warning sounds. If i open any other door, or close and reopen the driver door, the ding stops. Any ideas?

When the door is open, just push and release the little rubber “button” on the door frame located on the right side in the middle once the door is open.

That should cancel the sound. Perfect for when you’re cleaning your truck or just don’t want to hear that annoying ass sound lol.

You have the push button start/stop? Try shutting the engine off before you open the door. My theory is that people have died from CO poisoning when they leave the engine running in the garage; the ding is to remind you the engine is running. Why it doesn't stop when you turn the engine off with the door open is something only Toyota can answer.

If yours is a keyed ignition, then totally disregard my answer.

So I can't find a way to turn off the ding with Carista - if anyone knows what I'm missing there, that'd be helpful too.

I unscrewed the plunger and disconnected the connector to it. Never dings. By doing this it also wont show that your door is open anymore but that’s pretty obvious in my opinion. You can always reconnect if you want the ding back.

Techstream and Carista won’t be of any help. Pushing the button does not seem to work on Access cabs. Every other method I’ve come across to silence it also disables the turnsignal noise.

Sounds like the way to go! Also, duh - if the door is open on the driver side, I think I'd know...

Best method available, but it disables the interior lights coming on with door open.

Yea I leave mine off and manually turn them on if I need them. Also if you open the rear door real quick they come on. I’m an access can as well.

I never tried. I assumed, because it's settable that Carista would do it.

Isn't Techstream 14 still free? Mine was.

There is the key cylinder mod that removes the plunger for the chime switch. But in mine, I hear something prime when my key hits it. So I am not sure if I want to lose that.

If you do this will the truck still shut off when you open the door after it has been “remote started” ?

I have an sr5 cause I like how it is still 90s tech. ie I still have a key for the ignition. Remote start works fine for me, push button models I don't know but I would assume that since it can’t tell the door was opened it shouldn’t turn off. It’s literally 30 seconds to unscrew the switch from the door and unplug the connector. Give it a try and let us know your results

My car won’t lock from outside and I can see it says door ajar & all the doors are closed. I read a leak from windshield could cause wire to short out and cause this and the windshield was replaced when I bought it. So I can just turn this feature off completely by unplugging it?
