I'm looking into getting a dash camera and was going to use the Dongar rearview mirrior adapter for a power supply. Has anyone had any issues with this, as it will make the install much easier. Thanks in advance.

I have been using it for about 2 years with zero issues. Install took about 10 seconds. I use it with a Garmin dash cam and it works flawlessly.

Thanks for the replies. I was concerned about the sensitivity of these electrical systems going by the horror stories I've read about on this forum.

I wouldn’t worry about it, I’ve seen a lot of posts about the dongar adapter and they have all been positive.

Although my truck is a 2021, I have almost 40K miles on it and I’ve had the dongar for the majority of those miles and it’s been great.

Only problem wit mine was, the included cable wasn't long enough to plug into my go pro mount, but the cable is a $5-$10 item.

But it is worth it, and super easy to plug & play, even though I also have my 2 way long range car starter wired in there too!!

All good news. I am looking at the Netbase 222. It appears to have some good features and reviews, and not too expensive. Thanks everyone.

Mine's been in for about a year powering my Garmin Dashcam Mini 2. Both the Dongar and the Garmin have been flawless.

I just installed Redtiger 4k (Fantastic cam) in mine ...bought the Dongar adapter ...still trying to decide which is best, the cigarette adapter plug (what im using now)or Dongar adapter?
The Redtiger has rear view cam also...seems cig adapter would be best since theres 2 cams right?

Only issue for me is when I first looked at purchasing this the Dongar adapter it was like $35 CDN. Now it’s like $80 CDN. Still sitting on the fence about the Dongar/Garman Dash Cam Mini 2 or the FitcamX.

Been running it a 1.5 years with a Viofo A129 Pro. Just make sure you don’t pull too many amps and you’ll be fine.

I personally love it and have had zero issues so far.

Back of the napkin calculation.... About 304 posts per day for 9 years.

19 posts per hour, assuming he's on here for 16 hours a day...

I’m looking into this adapter, as well. Read some bad reviews on Amazon with it messing up electronics and I’m wondering if they just plugged it in to the wrong place. I have a 2023 SR5 with the auto-dimming rear view mirror. My understanding is I need the 12-PIN TYPE A. Their website says it’s only compatible with TRD and SR5 Premium. There is also a warning NOT TO BE PLUGGED INTO THE LANE DEPARTURE / ANTI COLLISION TOYOTA SAFETY SENSE (TSS) COMPUTER!

My truck has lane departure, and safety sense pre-collision system. Is that a different plug or is it tied in with the same plug for the mirror? Can I not use this adapter?

Doing a little bit at a time.
I have had the same experience with the Dongar/ Garmin Mini 2 combo.

The warning just means be careful and plug it into the right spot, ie into the mirror. The PCS is also a 12 pin and is close to the mirror so it can be mixed up. As long as you have an auto dimming mirror you're good.
