Their not going to withstand like a gunner, however for the price and quality I think their the second best on the market.

I have 3 of them myself and I’m quite happy with them. An XL and Intermediate fit in the back of my 4runner side by side.

Bit of a theme going on there between the dogs and plates.

New owner of an intermediate size Gunner Kennel but a huge fan already. They’re expensive but the peace of mind knowing my GSP will be safe regardless of what happens is well worth it in my opinion.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I hope you and the pup were ok.

I just ordered my Gunner kennel. Any tips, especially on strapping it down in the bed of your Taco?

Thanks for sharing your setup. Have you ever tried to position the kennel in the back corner of your bed to make room for other gear in the bed? My Gunner intermediate is on it's way and I'm trying to explore how to have the kennel in the bed of the truck and have camping gear around it.

I have run mine wedged into the drivers side corner when I needed the bed space. These days it mostly lives in the back seat on the passenger side - yes its a pain to get in there - but it does fit.

I have but I have a BakFlip bed cover and when the kennel is positioned against the cab of the bed the bed cover has to be folded against the back window which does not allow me to see vehicles approaching me from the rear or my dog so I prefer to install the kennel as close to the tail gate as possible. I recently installed E-Track tie down attachments and it has made it a nice, tight and clean look.

I have not seen a LuckyDuck kennel in person but I would definitely go with the Gunner Kennel. Compare the warranties side by side and that should make you lean a little closer to the Gunner Kennels. To me, that extra $100 is worth the warranty if I call them 15 years down the road for a new door or whatever. Not only that but they offer a 5% discount for LE, Military and first responders if you fall under that category. Don’t let that extra $100 sway you from getting the Gunner Kennel it’s $100 more for a reason. Just my 2¢.

Anyone tried to use two Luckyduck kennels in the 3rd gen? Photos? I want to be able to lock the boxes, and Luckyduck boxes have a lock. The website states 20.5W at base, but will the flare all for two boxes in the bed between the tire wells? thanks!

I recently got 4 of the intermediate Ruffland crates for my doggos. I have 75/60 lbs labs and 2 60 lb hounds. They fit snug in there but I know that if heaven forbid, I ever get in a wreck, they will be safe. I had the Large size initally but there was just too much extra room in there. I don't travel more than an hour at any given time so I am not worried about them becoming cramped.

I typically only keep 2 in there but if I ever need to haul all 4 dogs, say to the vet. I toss the other 2 in and strap them down. 20210726_101708.jpg 20210729_094433.jpg

I remove the spare tire and they can walk past the front crates to get to the back 2. (Cooper tested) The doors open enough for them to get in.

I also ordered a softopper for shade since I live in Texas. Plus I just like the look of them.

Just me but I would never leave my dogs in a crate in the box of a pick-up. Especially in Texas.

That's why I got the softopper. So they are in the shade. Cooper was out there helping my with the placement.

My dogs have an air-conditioned shed they stay in when I am gone. They are beyond spoiled.

My dog rides in the air conditioned cab. Too hot in the bed for a dog in Texas right now.

They don't stay back there all day. I am not a savage. They literally ride in there for 15 min to the vet and back.

IDK why you guys are coming at me for making sure my dogs are as safe as possible. Letting them free ride in the cab may be cooler but if there is a crash, they are going to be more injured being free in the cab.

I am not sure if you are able to read, but my previous response stated how I have an air-conditioned shed for them at home and specifically ordered a topper so they have more shade if they have to ride back there.

I posted my setup to show what I found to be the best set up for occasional rides incase it helps someone else.

Sounds like you are a responsible dog owner and the air conditioner shed is great . We all love our dogs and TW can be a tough crowd sometimes , good luck .
