I have a 2022 short bed Tacoma with the OEM tonneau cover. I am looking for a suggestion on a good dog crate for my 60 pound Golden Retriever.

My current crate is fairly tall and I have to unfold a tonneau cover section. I was wondering if there are any solutions out there specifically for the Tacoma. Maybe I am just after a shorter crate that I allows me to partially close the back fold of the tonneau, to allow air in but some weather protection.

Any suggestions? I live in the PNW so rain is a factor. Thanks.

To keep him under the tonneau? Not so sure thats fair to him.

How about you fold down the back seat and crate him there? Lots of peeps here have this set-up. Search for rear seat platform.

Or do what I did, here's my crate. He gets the whole back of the truck.

No, not looking to keep the dog under the cover... Just with all the wildly creative Tacoma solutions out there, just wondering if there is something I don't know about.

    Horrible idea!

Put a crate in the back seat if you must, or a doggy seat belt

The back seat. The back seat is where your dog belongs.

I have one of these strapped down in the bed, under my cap. I feel better having him contained, protected from anything that is sliding around back there. https://rufflandkennels.com/

My Golden rides in the back of the cab. It’s a fact, Golden Retrievers will shed, but I rarely vacuum or sweep the cab. Just open all the windows on the freeway and watch clumps of fur fly out. Sucks to be tailgating me on the freeway.

I'd put the kids in the bed before the dog, personally.

The back seat folds flat. That's my dog's 'seat'.

Maybe strap the kids under the tonneau.

Children is plural. My two kids in car seats does not leave much room for an 80lb GSD lol.

I prefer keeping them in a Rubbermaid bin. Much tidier!
