Happy owner of a new 2021. Pretty big difference then my 2012 but this one feels odd. My rpm idles up and down once a minute or two. Havent timed it yet but it's frequent. Is this normal for you guys?

Sound didn't pick it up but it's not just then gauge. You can hear and feel then engine revving up

Yes. AC compressor, etc requires different rpm of engine when idling. Your new truck is smarter than your old truck.

Idle compensator. My 2000 Tacoma with an automatic jumps like 750 rpm when the AC compressor kicks on. If my foot isn't firmly on the brake at a light it'll jump. :). Remember, AC compressor also kicks on when using defrost.

There actually a way to fix the idle from going up and down. Not sure if it will work for your year model. Turn your truck off. Then turn your key to the on position, slowly push your gas Pedal in it should take about 2 to 3 seconds to push in the hold to the floor for 3 seconds then release the same way you pushed in should take about 2 to 3 seconds do this three times then take you key out all the way and wait about 5 seconds and start her up. It should work the first time but if not then repeat or it just might not work for your model.

not trying to undermine anyone here just trying to help

    thanks,

I haven’t heard of your method, but it will run slower if you give a quick tap to the throttle pedal when it’s idling fast at startup.

Like others said, it's an idle compensator. Kicks on when you're using AC mainly. My 2000 Tacoma, when sitting at a stop light would lurch forward when it kicked in. If you weren't on the brake hard, it'd actually move. :). Lucky I never rear ended anyone.
