I need one specifically for a 3rd gen 4 cylinder. Millercat looks like the best bang for the buck that I've seen. There's a cheaper one (Add A Cat) but it only covers the rear cat, so there's no point.

I try to offer the very best price I can to everyone. I personally don't do sales for that reason. I hate to inflate the price enough to be able to do sale. This may be bad marketing though.

I may be 75 dollars higher than the miller shield, but I think it is important to factor in that their material thickness is 14 gauge aluminum which is .078" thick and mine is 1/4" aluminum. That is is over 3x as thick. I have considered offering a thinner shield for a lesser price, but in the end I am most comfortable with the strength of 1/4" Aluminum and the protection it offers VS a thinner material.

I am also marketing mine as an off road skid plate, so anything thinner than 1/4" there would be to weak in my opinion.

I also just got off the phone with my Aluminum supplier, and I believe prices are about to sky rocket.....

What's your company? Do you have a link? And more importantly, do you make them for the 2.7l 3rd gen? And if you do, does it cover both cats?

I do make one that will fit the 4 cylinder trucks, but it won’t cover the rear cat on those.

I am working on a rear cat box though, and an additional front plate shield for those without the factory skid plate.

I have a 4 cylinder, and we're kind of screwed as far as cat shields go. We have two converters like the V6 but ours are inline, both on the passenger side. The front one is level with the transmission (where the V6 converters are as well) and the rear is of course further back. A few manufacturers make shields that will fit the 4 banger but they only cover the front converter, leaving the rear one wide open. As far as I can tell, Millercat is the only manufacturer out there that makes one specifically for the 2.7l that covers both converters but it's pricey - $130 more than their shield for the V6.

I would love to help support your business. Any idea when you'll have it ready? I'm in Houston, so if you need to borrow a 4 banger for prototyping, I know a guy.... ;)

I have sent a few of my sets out to a local mechanic I work with. I need to make a few minor adjustments and I hope to have it up for sale soon.

Hello, I live in Houston and have a brand new Miller cat shield for sale. Never installed, sitting in box in my garage.
Covers both front and back cats. Can't use because I replaced mine with Flowmaster cats. For the 2.7 engine. My truck is a 3rd gen.

I have a 2022 2.7L and would be interested in a "thinner" and less expensive shield. I don't need a skid plate...only something that will greatly deter a thief. I don't think a thinner .078" shield would be a problem....and having something is better than nothing. But $400+ is too expensive, especially in my low-risk area.

Perhaps you might want to adjust your marketing reference. Most Tacoma's will never see any serious off-road activity, but all will encounter Walmart parking lots, or parking garages, or large open parking lots, street parking, etc, etc. As a result, I would suggest you offer two lines of shields...a thin shield designed to protect the converter from theft, and a thicker shield that also serves as a skid plate. I want something light and effective in terms of preventing theft, not a heavy skid plate...and something less costly than a skid plate. I don't know what your costs are, but if aluminum costs are going up, then that makes the case even stronger for a different (or additional) product line. I see converter shields on Ebay for Toyota Prius for $50 and $60. If that was available for my 2022 2.7L Tacoma I would snatch that up in a heartbeat.

I have debated this a bunch. The main reason I don't offer anything thinner then 1/4" Aluminum is if the thieves do decide to try to cut the plate, they are likely going to give up, as they have before when they tried cutting my product. The thinner materials, 1/8", or even thinner 14 gauge would be way to easy to cut through in my opinion and likely not provide the secondary deterrent that 1/4" Aluminum does if they do actually try to cut it.

Majority of my customers choose me because I offer the thicker plates. I have ran the numbers, and with offering a thinner plate I could beat all the competitions' prices and make more money per sale, but I hate the idea of selling a weaker product. Of things that keep me awake at night, the potential phone call email of "Your plate didn't work, they still got my cats" is up there on the list.

As far as a shield for the Tacoma for 50-60 bucks, I do not see that ever happening. I have not gotten my hands on a Prius shield, or the car, but I am fairly certain those shields are 1/4 the size of a Tacoma shield, and could probably cut 5-6 of them in the same amount of material that a Tacoma plate uses. While we are on the discussion of how many plates can you cut from one of my Tacoma plates layouts I could cut 2 of the RCI skid plates out of the same area it takes me to cut one of my plates. :p
