hey guys just had a question, for anyone that has a taco with the forward looking sonar/radar for parking and cruise control have you installed an off road bumper that eliminates the plastic one that holds the fog lights and license plate mount. just wondering cause my new truck has been backed into 2 times in a month and i want these people to feel the pain with out me having to touch up the paint. also if you have any great ideas for a lift and bumper combo link it to me since this is the route i am gonna go. thanks.

If you're going to upgrade your grille, you will need to upgrade to one that's TSS ready. Unless you turn TSS off altogether and remove the sonar altogether, which I was told leaves you with some permanent warning lights.

If you are just replacing the bumper, disregard. Front bumper assembly has nothing to do with the functionality of the TSS.

I don't necessarily want to remove the grille. I'm just sick of have to worry about my bumper paint job.

If you're not touching the grille you should be fine. Just don't block the sensor in anyway and you should have nothing to worry about. Armor that beast up.

I'm a fan of low-profile bumpers such as this. It's not terribly heavy, can be done with one person, actually has multiple functionalities and IMHO looks awesome.

Does require minor valance trimming, but any careful average Joe with some masking tape can pull off a clean look if it's done with patience.

The black piece of plastic that holds your license plate mount is the valance.

It really is, as I said. Patience and care is really all it takes. I believe instructions would be included as well if you were to purchase a bumper like that.

Be sure to test the collision avoidance on some cardboard boxes as a precaution post-install.

And don't forget to post it here. :D

If you're asking about the TSS system (collision and adaptive cruise) then replacing the bumper itself will have no impact as the sensors are in the grille and on the windshield by the rear-view. You will need to make sure you don't install a bumper with a bar that obstructs the grille sensor (just below the logo on the Pro and the logo itself for all others) or you'll have constant warning messages.

True, you'll need some beefier coil springs for a full bumper. The thread I linked has all kinds of bumpers for 3rd gens, and I'm pretty sure TSS still works fine with them, just do research on whatever you buy
