Does GM still currently use Dexcool in NEW vehicles. I tried to look this up on line and didn't have luck finding an answer.

Wow! Thanks. I can't believe they still do, I know there are many people who say that its because of cheap parts that allowed the Dexcool to be so horrendous for many GM cars and then others who blame the actual Dex Cool.

I know after having two vehicles that had Dex Cool related problems that GM isn't going to be on my list still for some time.

^What problems did you have? I always thought the "peanut butter" was formed when you mixed it with regular green coolant (shouldn't use but easy to happen if you go to a Jiffy Lube).

^Of course, anything that shortens Aztek ownership can be considered a good thing. :p

My S-10 needed Head gaskets replaced from the Dexcool eating them up. (4.3 L V6). Also had clogs of the Dex Cool related sludge in heater lines twice.

My wife's G6 had an anti freeze "leak" but I could never find the leaking. (Yes with Dex Cool every mechanic friend and everything online said do NOT switch if the car is not brand new. I kept adding more Dex-Cool and it kept disappearing over the course of a month with no puddles or anything. I added it one day and it had a small leak on the side. I replaced the Dex Cool reservoir and filled it again it kept disappearing. I had my mechanic buddy look at it and he said its gotta be the Head Gaskets. Was taking it to work the next day since my wife was "scared" to drive it, got about half way there and the engine was smoking. Sold it shortly after and bought a brand new Elantra. ( I wanted to get a lightly used Camry but she preferred the Elantra and its her car so I was ok with it, Corolla was out cause I didn't want a CVT).

It's less Tacoma and more mod
Jeeps use ATF and 10W-30 in their manuals, they really aren't too picky.
