Does anyone drive in ECT Power all the time for extra acceleration?

Like others, I wish my 2017 Tacoma accelerated more quickly. Can I achieve this if I keep it in ECT Power mode all the time? Any downside to this?

I am sure if you did a search through the 3rd Gen Section you would find this answer as it has been discussed many times.Capture+_2017-04-18-15-59-30.jpg

This. But I really haven't noticed much more than 0.75 to 0.5 mpg change over a tank during my normal weekly commute, but I also don't get close to the MPG's posted by others on this forum.

    so they claim.

I've had the same drive for the past 5 weeks, since I added sliders and front skid (around 190lbs) plus 265 70 17 tires I've felt the acceleration is dull so been driving in ECT.
Scangauge and computer both confirm I'm somehow getting better MPG now. when you'd think it should be getting worse its getting better.

I went from avg 16.8L/100km to 15.2L/100km city driving.
Nothing significant but still, an improvement.

From my understanding, you should refrain from driving in ECT mode until the transmission learns you're driving habits. I don't believe it'll hurt anything but it will accelerate and or shift better after the learning period. At least that's what I've read on here.

Please don't waste your time responding like this. I am sorry I am not a "search" expert. Next time just move on when you don't like what is being asked. It must be a terrible burden for you that someone might hold a belief that doesn't coincide with yours. I suppose you could either be tolerant and understanding, speak with me privately via PM or ridicule me on a public forum as you have obviously chosen to.

I sincerely appreciate everyone else who took the time to respond to my question. I am going to try driving in ECT Power and see if it increases acceleration that outweighs loss of mpg.

    I can confirm this.
When I first got the truck it was weird in ECT.

Now after break in and the transmission has learned my driving ECT seems smoother.

I think if you look at his post in another light you might see that if you did do a thorough search then you'd have gotten way more information than you'll get in your own thread.

Methinks it has less to do with being a "search expert" and more to do with wanting to be spoofed.

I used to drive an 86 1 ton ford wrecker with a naturally aspirated 6.5 liter International with a 3 speed auto for work back in the day.
    I also owned an 81 ford 1/2 ton 4x4 with a 3 speed auto and 3:31 gears and a 302.
Hell, Chevy's 454SS P/U put out a "whopping" 230 horsepower, and that was a "muscle truck" Yours has 260.
You wanna talk about no acceleration? Please. If you wanted a "fast" truck, you shoulda bought a fast truck. I don't think there is anybody ever that has made the claim a Toyota P/U was fast.
No, I hardly ever use ect mode.
Oh, Ive also owned a couple Hemi Ram 1/2 tons and a common rail cummins ram with a smarty. Those trucks were fast, so I do know what a fast truck is.
