If I were going to add a new exhaust and new intake, does it actually make a difference and if so, what is the best verified brand for doing so?

If you believe that I have a Bridge For Sale, it's all Snake Oil. Supercharger is the only way. You already have a Cold Air Intake, and if you add an aftermarket one you will get nothing but noise. Exhaust nothing but new noise. Save your money and put it into something you will get something out of.

No you won't as this is discussed all the time. You get no performance gains, no mpg gains, no hp gains. Nothing but noise noise noise

Then I'll say it too. They don't do anything but make noise.

Yes you do. Minimal, if actually designed properly for it through testing.

Now if your truck had FI. The gains could be fairly noticeable.

Having worked for the largest aftermarket exhaust manufacturer in the us I can say that is not true.

A better breathing exhaust whether from down pipe or cat back can free up some hp. Will it be enough to feel. No. Can the combination of sound and moved power output make you think it has made a bigger difference. Yes.

Depending on models exhaust and how the new exhaust is made (ie x or y pipes) there’s always some power to be made. While peak output might barely change, what often does is somewhere in the total rpm range it can make more power over stock.

Modern exhausts however are fairly good flowing so don’t expect much net gains compared to say an 80’s stock exhaust.

I have long tube headers. Cat delete. Customs muffler, crossover. Had a K&N air intake.

Gained 16HP total (verified on a dynojet)

Ditched the K&N so I could enjoy my truck and stereo again.

Added a URD maf calibrator. Accelerate is smoother now. But MPGs lower.

Meh. Throttle RESPONSE might be better. But I drive an automatic.... so it engages if and when it pleases.
