I always used to wax my old cars. I was watching some tubers and saw them using Ceramic coating instead of wax. So I did some research on it, and decided to give it a shot.
    I used AvalonKing ( https://avalonking.com/products/armor-shield-ix-diy-kit ).
It turned out very nice. Easy to apply, took maybe half an hour or so.
If you use coupon code LEGIT you can get 25 off.
Got this info from LegitStreetCars on youtube.

I also use products from Chemical Guys. I got one of their foam cannons, soap as well as the "Clean Slate" wax stripping wash. Helps to give you a wax free surface to apply the ceramic coating.

I think its going to depend though right? does you vehicle need any kind of paint correction? a ceramic coat isn't going to do anything in that regard. in fact, it may only highlight swirls and imperfections.

I bought some Avalon King a couple weeks ago. Won't be able to use it until it warms up (Minnesota). I bought it because it was supposed to be the easiest ceramic coating to apply

It is true, but if you don't mind the condition it is in adding a ceramic will prevent it from getting worse. It is recommended to get a paint correction for a vehicle that has already seen service, but it is not necessary. You are correct though in that it does not in any way help with those things, unlike a wax which will reduce their appearance (for a while).

wow. a point, counter point, and then an agreement online. what a time to be alive! ha ha ha.

Looking to do some paint correction and ceramic coating myself this spring. i just have to find a good way to get those damn artillery fungus dots off my truck first. I was always so proud after putting in seasonal mulch until i learned about these freaking things.

Clay bar and dawn dish soap. Works great for pine sap at least

I've always waxed. Have had no issues with the harsh Ohio winters.

Both. Wash and wax first. Then ceramic coat. I have been doing this now for almost 2 years and get good results every time. I touch up all my paint pecks with touch-up paint before ceramic coating.

Ceramic coatings need clean paint in order to bond. If you wax first you prevent the ceramic from sticking.

For ceramic you want to polish the surface (polish, not wax), then wipe the whole vehicle down with isopropyl alcohol, then coat.

Surface preparation is the most important thing for ceramic coatings

    Too much to list
I actually have the Avalon king set up in the garage just waiting for it to be warm enough I can give the truck a good wash. Though I may wait until I swap roof racks now.

I’ve got the Adams advance graphene ceramic sitting in my garage, plus a new RA orbital buffer, pads and turtle wax pro 1 and done polish. Gotta try and make the black paint sparkle!
My trucks paint is not in bad shape but there are a lot of micro scratches and a few small deeper scratches. Just need the weather to warm up on a day off and a few days after not to rain.

Right now, I’ve got Adams spray ceramic on there and after a year it still beads water pretty good. I was waxing for the first two years then went to the ceramic spray. Got tired of waxing every few months

I’ve been using the ceramic spray from Lucas Oil. It seems to work pretty well. It’ll keep until I can pay to have the truck professionally coated.

Also, when did Apple add the ability to cut items out of a photo like this?!

Thanks for your insight. You may be absolutely right. However, that's what I've been doing and it has worked fantastic for me for the last 2 years. The bugs come off very easy, and water beads up and runs off for much longer than it used to do with just waxing.

I'm using the cheap stuff from Wal-Mart, so I'm really only investing time in this process.

This. I have been using GTECHNIQ C2 for 3 years now on all my cars/trucks. Easy to apply if you follow the above steps. Works better than any wax I have ever used over the last 40 years.
