So, I am relatively new to Tacoma and TW.com, when I had my F150 it did not seem to be nearly as much chatter about lifting so I started to wonder how many people actually lift their Tacoma's.. is it the majority or just a vocal minority?

Just curious as it seems like the majority tend to lift the Tacoma.

A lot of people on this site lift their vehicles, its an enthusiast thing. Around here, in the real world, most are stock.

Lots of people do. I lifted my 2006 about 2.5". The CV fins were touching and the needle bearing was starting to go. It was my first truck so I spent money on things the internet convinced me I needed, like the lift, wheels, and a huge bumper. My 2016 is much leaner. It has 1/2" spacers on the front to correct for the winch in a hidden mount and airbags on the back. The CV's are perfectly straight, there is plenty of down travel, I haven't had to mess with brake hoses or upper control arms and chase vibrations through the driveline. I may pick the front up to a total of 1" over stock if I ever get new struts, but no higher than that.

You need another option. I added a set of ADS and about 1.5" lift.

Wanted to stay stock 17 TRD OR but couldn't resist.. Went ahead and installed the ICON adjustable coil-over with the oil reservoir, and the Delta upper control arm.. only lifted it about 1" to match the PRO model stance/height.. Been driving it like that since the truck was only 3 months old.. i am lifting the rear now to run bigger tires..
I could have stayed stock, but love the looks of the lifted Tacos with bigger tires.. :D

I don't fit into any of these categories. Need a middle vote for sub 3" lift.

Go with your needs. You going to wheel the shit out of it? Go high end suspension lifts.spend the money. Light wheeling and camping. Little leveling kit or a spacer lift no problem you will be fine. Also go with a 265/75/16 perfect. You plan on running 285’s do some research re gearing etc.
Good luck and congrats on the rig
