This is the bottom part of your Toyota app (on your phone) that tracks your trips and gives you a score. It also seems to monitor (and report to you) things like hard cornering, harsh braking, and fast acceleration.

I do find the feature pretty interesting. And my overall score is relatively high. It has given me some marks for fast acceleration (when getting ready to merge onto the highway) and a couple dings for hard cornering as well.

While I find the information interesting, I'm not entirely convinced that it isn't sending the information somewhere (or at the least storing it somewhere so that when some terms change in the future, the entirety of the information could be unknowingly uploaded to somewhere because we inadvertently agreed to these new terms during some software update, or term changes, etc). At the same time, as long as a person's overall score does stay up, it *is* a feature that they could "print out" and submit in a court of law if it did happen to benefit them at some point in the future. I just wonder if it is also a thing that some insurance company could "legally retrieve" and subsequently use against a driver (assuming their overall score reflected that they make harsh driving decisions on a regular basis).

I do tend to drive pretty hard. For example, I will always merge onto a highway going faster than the slow lane (assuming there is no one in front of me obviously). I will also take turns at a relatively fast speed (but I always stay in my lane and I don't mind the little bit of extra tire wear that I may be getting).

I should point out that I do also run a dash cam that is going 100% of the time that my vehicle is in operation...so that is also something that, if necessary, could be submitted in a court of law as well.

In either event - I'm just curious what your guys' thoughts are on this "feature" and if you leave this feature on, or if you opted out. If you opted out, were any other features disabled (such as remote start, etc).

    Thanks!

Did not even know this existed and now that I know, I have zero interest in a machine or a person judging how I drive. I could care less on the opinion of others.

Dumped the Tacoma, that's all it needed.
I have it turned off, but I feel that that’s just an icon that shows “off” while they still collect data, but now it’s just transmitted differently.

This brings up a good point. There is no real way for them to "tally" a driver...so if multiple people are operating the vehicle at different times, the score is a reflection of how the truck is generally operated, and not necessarily the person who is doing the driving.

I left it on. My best day was out wheeling and it gave me an 11. HIGH SCORE!!! Also, no way I'd hook that up to my insurance lol.

If I can make it through rush hour without my truck screaming at me to brake, stay in my lane, or watch my blind spots, then it's a good day. An app would just add to the noise.

Pilots like to say that any landing you walk away from is a good landing. That’s kind of how I approach driving trips as well.

LOL I hear that. My Volvo used to YANK the steering wheel. It was like a video game. I tried to drive so that it wouldn't do it...but that thing was finicky. It really wanted you to be "in a certain part of the lane" at all times...and wasn't afraid to *put you there*. It got sketchy on the back roads around here (the corn fields/cow farms etc).

I don't either. My kids phones are like full of the stupid 'app' things. Beats all I ever seen. An like a previous poster above, I don't give
a rats azz what anyone or any 'thing' thinks about my driving habits, or my eating habits, or my coffee habits, or any of my habits for that matter.

I am the same. *But* we do a lot of basketball games and stuff in cold weather (even work), I can use the app to start my vehicle 5-10 minutes before I walk out to it, and it's heated up by the time I get there.

Also, if I walk in somewhere and accidentally leave the doors unlocked, my iphone will alert me that the doors are unlocked. Then I can simply lock them from the app. It also reports the stats of the windows (open, which one is open, all closed, etc).

Those are some features that I'd rather not give up.
