My 2016 does. I like being able to lubricate them. I have seen a trend of some trucks using sealed u-joints. Just wondering what people think of u-joints w/o grease fittings?

My 2017 has sealed u-joints. I prefer sealed because it’s less maintenance I have to deal with and the vast majority are neglected by owners.

This is debated often and really just comes down to personal preference, if you like to grease then run greasable, if not then don’t.

There are pros and cons to each and pretty moot to debate them.

Well you can’t run “greasable “ without removing the sealed ones and replacing them. Might as well run the sealed ones until failure. Then when you must replace, you have the option. I wonder how long the sealed ones will last?

I guess it all depends on how you use/abuse the truck. Normally I would 100k+ without abuse.

My 2021 has none at all, even though the owners manual states what grease to use. I went out and bought some nice, somewhat expensive grease, crawled under the truck, and was really disappointed. I guess the mower and gas powered hedge trimmer get some really good grease now

My 2020 hasn't any zerks. What makes the op think a 2022 should have them?

Having grease zerks is an awesome way to be able to over grease, blow out the seals, allow dirt/water to enter and fling excess grease all around...

I am the OP. It’s my experience serviceable joints last longer. I’m sure the previous poster is correct, many people overfill. You should watch the seal and stop injecting grease when it bulges, before breaking the seal. It’s possible they will last long enough. I have had ujoint failures on jeeps early (50,000 miles). The service manager at my Toyota dealer drives a 3/4 ton Ford diesel truck. He said his ujoints have zerks? I didn’t look at his. Maybe it’s a better application for higher duty applications than Tacomas. I may get a 2023 and was wondering if they made a change since my 2016. Sounds like they did.

Nah it’s just a preference. I run F-450 axles with Dana 1550 ujoints that are non-greasable.

    This!
99.99% of vehicle owners are not DIY wrench-benders,,, quite the opposite really. I still think of the customer at that shop that said” yeah yeah, I saw the light (oil), but thought it would would get brighter or beep if got really low”, when the guy at the desk alerted him his car was brought in with less than a quart of oil in it, for his half decade oil change.
