Mounting up my new fuel offroad wheels. Im only getting 5 half turns on front studs before making contact with the wheel. When purchasing extended lug nuts do I need to purchase them for the rear also. Or do I just need the extended lugs for front!

I wanted to go with these http://www.brandsport.com/grla-68038.html

    Thanks for any info

Need to know details about the wheels. Hub centric or not. If all the wheels are the same, then you will need the same type of lug nuts for all.

The rule of thumb on nuts is that they will screw on at least the distance of the diameter, so if it is a 12mm bolt the nut will go on at least 12mm.

The shank is meant to align non hub centric wheels, or lug centric wheels.

The seat of the lug nut must match the seat on the wheel. There is flat, tapered, and round.

The open end on the nut will expose the threads of the bolts to the elements. It will make them more prone to corrosion plus dirt and grime making them harder to get off. Plus it won't be very attractive on new wheels, unless there are center caps to cover it.

    Moondeath thats not exactly true
You can use a small 1/4" shanked tapered lug nut on a hub centric wheel with tapered seat
As long as the shank fits inside of the hole in the wheel and doesn't go in to far so it touches the rotor or the drum.

As far as corrosion goes I've never had any problem as long as the center caps are always installed

    Watch this video http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=OIgGNZCcwSo
Richard shows how you can use a small shanked tapered lug nut with a hub centric wheel spacer or a wheel

If that's what the wheel manufacturer suggested to use with it go for it.

This is what I needed for my wheels. Unfortunately my wheels are lug centric.

I probably could have used those as well, but they would probably be too long with my center caps(covers) i do like that yours are exactly a .25" shank
I went with the .30" but I should still be ok. Only tomorrow will tell if when the mailman shows up!

Also you could add a hub centric centering ring also....
Are you getting any wheel shake in your hands?

Im sure many will disagree with me but you can be hub centric and lug centric at the same time
My factory sport wheels had centering shanks, and the wheel bore fit perfectly over the hubs lip
