Do exhaust systems tend to get louder over time?

A couple days ago I replaced the stock exhaust on my TRD sport with the TRD pro catback exhaust system and overall I am very happy with the sound but I wish it were just a tad bit louder. I have heard some people say that as exhausts "break in" their tone improves. That being said I have also heard people say the opposite saying that sound decreases after the break in period. Those of you with aftermarket exhausts have you found your systems to get louder, quieter, or stay the same over time? I feel like if my exhaust were to get just a little bit louder it would be perfect for me.

The harder you press the gas pedal, the louder it will be...

Jk, you won't notice any change in volume over time. If you want loud, buy a smaller muffler.

    I've been through
    Stock
    Stock with a flowmaster 40
    A 3" catback with a magnaflow
    3" catback with a flowmaster super44
    3" catback with a borla xr1 and a super44
Now the 3" catback with borla xr1 and a long magnaflow

I can't say the notes have changed with time, if anything I tended to either get used to them, or wanna smash my head through the windshield from the drone depending on the muffler.
The note only seemed to change with the obvious muffler/exhaust setup changes.

A kid drove past me the other day and he cut the exhaust off before the box.

Surprised how decent it sounded for a 3.5l

Yeah they sound ok without the mufler, but mufflers can also make the tone deeper and just sound better overall IMHO

Mufflers aren't a lifetime product that everyone thinks they are, they have packing material in them that suppresses sound which is usually made of fiberglass. The packing material will wear and get worn out with time causing the exhaust to get louder. My old cars exhaust got alot louder after 2 years of use but it also shot flames out the tailpipe so I'm sure the packing material got burnt up from that. The next time you see an old car from the 90's with a stock exhaust and wonder why the exhaust is so loud for being stock, just know that the muffler has lost it's ability to suppress sound.

Chambered muffler aren't affected by this since they do not use packing material.

I also have the trd exhaust and I'm rite over 4k miles on it and I'll say it does seem to be getting a little louder which is what I want. It's got great tone but I'll notice myself stretching the gears out longer (MT) just to hear it
