Just curious because I have some Pro Comp 7089 wheels and BFG KO tires coming in this week and I've done some research (mainly older threads) and it seems like several people were having issues with these "stick on" weights coming off. Will I even need wheel weights? Or only if they have trouble balancing them? Are "clip on" weights better. It seems like clip on weights on the inside of the wheels would be the best option if I would need weights? Any advice or info is appreciated...thanks!

Neither the wheels or tires are perfectly balanced. Therefore wheel weights are required. Clip on wheel weights will not work on pro comp 7089s. Only the stick on weights that go on the inside of the wheel will work.

How good do the stick on wheel weights really work? Seems like of they just stick on they would come off pretty easy just by driving down the road?

Stick on weights correctly installed on new rims are rarely a problem. If they come off due to something physically knocking them off then you have the tires rebalanced. Lots of shops will include lifetime balancing with a new set of tires or for returning customers.

Lots of problems with stick on weights happens when new tires are installed and balanced. Not all shops take the time to clean the wheels properly to allow the adhesive to stick properly.

Wheels and tires don't come with the weights. They are added when they are being installed by the tire shop. They spin each wheel/tire combo on a balancing computer that tells exactly how much weight and where to install it.

The stick on weights are generally installed in a way that, while driving, the centrifugal force of the spinning wheel keeps the weights stuck to the wheel. That's why they don't come flying off at speed unless you hit something.

Ah....thanks for clearing that up! Last question....can you mount the stick on weights ONLY on the inside of the wheel? Will it balance ok that way? I'm trying to avoid having to put the weights on the outside of the wheel where they would be showing since they are new black wheels.

I think you may have taken his response the wrong way. Anyway, you can choose where you want the weights. There are two choices, one is static balance where the weights are centers in the rim which in my opinion is the best, then the other I forgot the name but it places weights on the outer edges of the inside of the rim. There is one more option to where the wheels will be self balancing and I think is also very good, dyna beads. Google them
