I'm on a mission to mount my mountain bike to the outside of my bed. I have a fiberglass shell for camping so I don't want to use a hitch mount despite the tilt and swing options. I also don't want to get the bike on/off the roof every ride. I've spent a lot of time looking at options, the Voodoo mounts are discontinued and the SideRide doesn't fit trucks without mounting rails. I'm also aware that bed rails can be installed on trucks without.

My best ideas at this point involve camper tie downs or some angled metal solution drilled on. I'd also consider drilling the Squareone SideRides directly on to the bed.

I'm looking for advice and any better ideas, thank you!

I have a VooDoo mount if you’re interested. It was great when it was just me riding but now I have a family of four so I’ve switched to a tailgate pad. I did have to modify the holes a good bit to get it to work with the first gen though. I used Unistrut from Home Depot as my bed rails and then mounted the voodoo mount to the Unistrut.

So I decided to try a full DIY approach. $60 of hardware and a few hours later I have this. Seems to hold the bike well so I'm gonna experiment with some tie downs for travel! The inside pedal sits just on top of the shell which worked out great.

I'd suggest a piece of flat stock between these two bolts since that left one is pretty close to the window cutout. You shell might crack.

Hey thank you very much for the recommendation! I'll definitely do that before any more testing.

I reinforced both sets of lower bolts and added velcro straps and tie downs. Multiple hours on the highway with no issues or movement!
