DIY side mirror turn signal

I wanted to install side mirror turn signals same as the ones that came on TRD Sports but my OR wasn't prewired. My DLRL are always on when I drive so I didn't want the mirrors hooked up to the front and have them on the whole time as well so I hooked them up to the back.

Part# for turn signals.
81740-52031 (driver)
81730-52071 (passenger)

I don't know if all mirrors came predrilled for the turn signals but my 13 did so all I purchased were the colored matching shells and turn signals.

I used 18awg wires that I had laying around. Positive on the top and negative in the bottom.

Ran the wire behind the door and used a fish tape to run the wire through the boot from door to cabin. I popped off the boot for better visibility and put them back on after.

For the drivers side I tapped into the yellow wire and passenger I tapped in the Blue/White wire. For the ground I wired them to the side on both the driver and passenger.

All parts are oem, purchased from a dealership through ebay. I think I paid around $160 for all the parts. I've had them for over a year already, just barely got to wiring them up. Here are the part# for each signal:

Can you tell me the colors for the drive side and color for Passenger side

 

Sorry just seen it do they just come on when you turn the turn signal on or are they on all the time and just Blink

 

Isn't the yellow wires reserved for the SRS (air bag) system??

 

They only turn on when you signal. If you wanted them on all the time and blink when you signal you could tap into your drl instead of the taillights.

 

Not the one I tapped into. I checked and it's a continuation from the rear taillight signal.

 

Are you fishing the passenger side wire over to the driver side?

 

So you said you didn't tap into the drl? Do you know which wires are the drl?

 

No I'm sorry I don't remember which ones they are.

There's actually no plug for it, I had to make my own using female wire pins. Make sure to install rubber heat shrink around each wire so they don't rub and cause any electrical issues. I don't remember the exact size for the wire pins that I used but it's similar to the picture.

Did you basically replace the two wires for the light on the mirror? With power and ground?

 

Yup, one wire taps into the rear turn signal and the other is ground for both sides.
