Hello All! If you are like me you lament the idea of paying $100-$150 for a set of mud flaps that are flexible yet firm, and have no gaudy company logos on them. So with them help of
@Bumble Bee Tuna, I made a 1:1 scale PDF file for anyone to use so they can produce their own mud flaps out of whatever material they choose. I also attached a picture of the hardware you will need. I got my hardware from Menards.

    Items needed:

    -Material for your mud flaps
    -(10) 1/4" x 1" S.S. lag screws
    -(4) 1/4" x 2" S.S. lag screws
    -(14) 1/4" S.S. washers
-(4) #3 rubber stopper (drill a 1/4" clearance hole in the center of these and use for your 1" spacer)

*Please print off the PDF 1:1 scale and hold them up on your truck to ensure fitment. At that time you can also determine what length you want your mud flaps, and how far you would like them to stick out.

I used a miter saw with a blade I didn't care too much about. It worked better than I expected!

Personally, I'd rather pay the $100-$150 to get the OEM mud flaps as opposed to running around town finding material then taking the necessary time to make them look like something that should be on a $40,000 truck as opposed to looking homemade. Time is $ as they say! Though yours look Ok IMO.

I just purchased and installed a new set of OEM mud flaps for my '96 a month or so ago. And I prefer the looks of the OME flaps on my 2018.

OEM are great for road use. They crunch and hang up on rocks and stumps, though. DIY a set of 4 with superior materials for well under $100.

I absolutely agree with just paying the money and not having to deal with the hassle of making them! One of the main reasons is so I could source the material to make sure it is exactly what I wanted. I basically didn't want to pay a premium for mud flaps and have them crack the first snow bank I drove in to!

Looks great. What material did you make yours out of?

It's made out of some composite material consisting of recycled rubber and something else that is eluding me at the moment.
I believe the intended use was actually for large semi mud flaps.

I see your point and I don't know how long the OEM mud flaps on my 2018 will last however those on my 1996 lasted me 25 years with 414,000 miles of driving off-road, on-road, snow about every condition imaginable with no damage. The only reason I replace them recently is that the "4WD" partially wore off as seen below and I'm trying to keep as nice as possible. If the OEM flaps on my 2018 last 1/2 as well I will be thrilled.

PERFECT! Exactly what I was looking for. And I like that you trimmed them an inch or two as well.
Assuming you have to get that printed out on a plotter like at a Kinko's Fed-Ex Office / Mail Boxes Etc / UPS store?

I think you did well and thanks for sharing your idea
I have had to make mudflaps for my offroad trailers since you can't buy them ready made

I’m not sure where I would go locally to get them printed out to scale. I think Copyworks does it around my area.

I am spoiled and have a 42” wide plotter at work . :anonymous:
